Trainee Rattan Frame Maker

**Purpose of the Position**:
Soane Britain owns the only rattan weaving workshop in Britain. Located in Thurmaston, Leicester, the workshop makes bespoke, high-quality furniture and lighting using timber, cane and rattan. Due to the demand for rattan furniture, we are now recruiting for a trainee rattan frame maker who is interested in starting a long-term career with us.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Working with our highly skilled Senior Frame Makers you will be trained in the unique skill of frame making using rattan cane poles, after a lengthy training period, you will be responsible for completing your work on time, to specification and to the highest quality. As a member of the Soane team, you will also assist in ad hoc workshop tasks including tidying, moving and stocking up on materials. You are responsible for your own health and safety and of your colleagues.

**Qualifications for the Position**:

- A Diploma or other qualification in Carpentry & Joinery.
- Ideally 3 years experience in a similar role
- An enthusiasm for furniture making, and a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- Hardworking and reliable with excellent attention to detail.
- Quality-focused with good levels of concentration.
- Possessing a good work tempo and motivation.
- Takes a safety-conscious approach to work with an understanding of the safe use of woodworking machinery, and hand and air tools.

**Salary**: £11.03-£11.55 per hour

- Leicester, LE4 8AS: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:

- Joinery: 3 years (preferred)
- Carpentry: 1 year (preferred)
