Waking Nights Residential Care Worker

Nottingham, United Kingdom YMCA Robin Hood Group Full time

We are looking for Waking Nights staff to join our residential therapeutic care team looking after children aged between 5-17 years old in our Nottingham based children's home.

Working 10pm 8.30am on a scheduled rota pattern, you will provide valuable support to our home and be a valued member of our team.

YMCA Robin Hood Group believe everyone should have a fair chance to discover who they are and what they can become. We operate several trauma informed, therapeutic residential care homes for children aged 5 - 17 across Nottinghamshire and East Riding, providing these children the very best chance of discovering who they become.

If you share in our belief and want to be part of a childs life, helping to support and shape their future utilising trauma informed, therapeutic methods (that we are happy to teach you), please read on

Based on trauma informed therapy, you will be trained in therapeutic techniques allowing you to care and support our children better than ever before.

We are dedicated to this style of care and have seen the positive outcomes providing therapy to children in residential care can bring to their futures.

We are looking for Residential Night Care Workers to join our team to provide the highest levels of care 24/7.

You will provide support and care overnight, being a calm and reassuring presence to ensure the young people in our care remain safe and there individual needs met overnight.

Remaining awake through-out your shift, you continue the therapeutic style of care, ready to support the young person, especially if they are in crisis. Using the theories you have been taught, you will be able to support that child as they regulate and work with them to keep them safe from harm using a wide range of techniques and practices. This might mean sitting with a child through that crisis for hours, but your dedication to your role and to that child means you do this without a second thought.

Having the child at the centre of all we do is critically important to us; we involve the child in their care plan, their risk assessments, their communication plan. We listen to the children about how they want to be cared for and work with them to create a world in which they feel safe and have their basic needs met.

You will work on a rota for your home, working on average 40 hours per week, either working a 4 on/4 off pattern or a fortnightly pattern. There is the opportunity for overtime if desired and/or shifts in other homes providing you variety and different challenges.

You will ideally be experienced working in a social care capacity, ideally having an understanding of trauma-informed therapeutic practice. Mostly importantly, you will be a resilient, positive and passionate individual about looking after children. Some of our children can be very challenging and have experienced terrible traumas meaning night-time are especially triggering for them. Your calm, understanding and patient nature will give them reassurance, safety and most importantly a friendly face.

Our salaries are made of:
Your annual base salary is a minimum of £25,500 £26,500 dependent on the level of therapeutic care required. We also offer Performance Related Pay (PRP) of up to £2,500 per year as we want your contribution to be rewarded accordingly.

If you are looking for career progression, we are very keen to support and develop our employees with ongoing training and qualification. We will support you to achieve your level 3 and 5 Diploma in Residential Care qualifications

If you are looking to work for a not-for-profit organisation who cares about you and your wellbeing, YMCA Robin Hood Group prides itself on the package of wellbeing we provide to support all our employees.

At YMCA Robin Hood Group, you will have many additional benefits, including but not limited to:
