An exciting opportunity has occurred within our Compliance team at Gloucestershire Managed Services. The vacancy comprises of a Compliance Officer to join our team.

The post is responsible for Health and Safety advice, information and training to GMS staff members, mangers, Trust divisions, external contractors and consultants working on site.

This Compliance Officer role will be an integral part of the Compliance team and services the department provides.

The Compliance Officer will cross site work across Cheltenham & Gloucester but will work in all areas of Gloucestershire Hospitals NHSFT.

The post is responsible for H&S advice, information and training to GMS staff members, mangers, Trust divisions, external contractors and consultants working on site.

The responsibilities and activities of this post has a direct effect on GMS meeting its statutory legal duties and maintaining compliance through its services and operations.

If these activities are not met, maintained and kept up to date, there is a direct impact on staff, visitors to site and patient safety.
Required to follow Trust, GMS and other healthcare provider’s policies and procedures and participate in audits from internal and external sources.

The Health and Safety Team is a small team at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital within the NHS Subsidiary Company Gloucestershire Managed Services. GMS consists of a mixed workforce of 810 members of staff with varying backgrounds and abilities.

The post holder’s main duties will include assisting GMS Managers in developing and updating GMS policies, procedure notes and risk assessments. Ensuring that GMS follow general Health and Safety requirements. This including the management of Asbestos, COSHH, Confined Spaces, Working at Heights and the Control of Contractors attending site. Ensuring that these specialist aspects of the Estate functions are in place and maintained to specified standards. This management includes the delivery and recording of bespoke tool box talks, training, inspections and inductions.

The successful applicant will be expected to carry out hands on duties and will be an active member of the team; you will need to be a flexible, enthusiastic, self-motivated individual who can contribute to an effective, compliant service utilizing excellent people skills to achieve all departmental targets.

The role involves elements of staff supervision and training of colleagues and junior staff.
