**Head of LAMDA Job Description** **Job Title**: Head of LAMDA **Based**: RABBLE are based in the beautiful Caversham Stables, Reading. Whilst we can offer a certain amount of flexible/hybrid working, office-based work is ideal when not delivering classes. RABBLE’s LAMDA schools are all in Reading and the surrounding areas. **Hours**: Full time. A good work-life/balance is one of RABBLE’s core values and therefore we are trialling a scheme where we reward our staff for their brilliant and efficient output by giving them one day off a week during non-production/delivery weeks. Therefore this position would be on full-time pay for 4 days a week unless it is exam week in which case you will be required to work 5-6 days. Exam weeks take place at the end of every term. **Reporting to**: The Community Programming Manager and Artistic Director **Remuneration** £30,000 a year - option to opt into RABBLE’s pension scheme. "RABBLE’s work is extraordinarily successful in terms of quality & the sense of pride in Reading’s history & culture" Head of Economic & Cultural Development, Reading Council. **ABOUT THE ROLE** As well as our flagship productions and community-led festivals, RABBLE runs drama programmes in many schools across Reading and external lessons for adults and children, reaching over 500 community members every week. A large part of our delivery includes LAMDA classes in 5 schools, both primary and secondary, group adult LAMDA classes and private LAMDA lessons. You will oversee a team of 12 freelance teachers (this number will increase), a class manager, class coordinator and two exam coordinators, to deliver, grow and ensure the smooth running of the programme. As a representative of RABBLE Theatre you will be responsible for liaising with LAMDA and all our current delivery centres, as well as forging partnerships with new schools. Initially you will deliver/manage LAMDA classes in all centres alongside the freelance team. This will enable you to understand how each centre works, get to know the students and also help you get to know and manage individuals in your team. As the department grows we anticipate that the Head of LAMDA role will not include full-time class delivery, but instead will be predominantly a managerial role with a responsibility to only deliver ad hoc classes as required and in new centres. At RABBLE we aim for our LAMDA classes to reflect the innovative work we do with our professional companies, inspiring pride in our local community wherever possible. For example, this year we have invited 60 Speaking in Public students to Reading Museum to learn all about Henry I, who founded Reading Abbey. They will be creating speeches inspired by the themes behind Henry’s story: displaced people, formidable women, the story of Reading and the relevance on our lives today. The pieces will all be performed at our inaugural ‘Finding Reading Festival’, as well as at the LAMDA examination. We would like our Head of LAMDA to develop this approach and to find new innovative ways of engaging our students that push the boundaries set by LAMDA and encourage them to create really exciting work. **Head of LAMDA Responsibilities**: - Attend or teach LAMDA classes/manage the team at all centres. We are anticipating at some centres you will be delivering lessons and at larger centres, you will be managing the team and covering if there is a problem with a staff member attending class. The current teaching timetable is: Mondays - 10-4:10pm Tuesdays - 10 - 6pm (adult class is 7:30 - 8:30) Thursdays - 4-6pm Fridays - 4-5pm **Exams** - Oversee the exams team and manage the entry of students with our two exam coordinators. - Liaise with LAMDA to book exam dates and organise exam sessions - Book exam venues - Manage comms between class and exams team by keeping register up to date and liaising with students and parents about when students will take exams - Organise mock exam timetables and manage mock exams at each centre with the help of teachers - Attend and manage exam days (these are currently held in Winnersh on a weekend at the end of each term, 1-4 days depending how big the session is) **Teachers** - Interview, book and train freelance teachers - Ensure Fre
