**The Roles: Immediate Starts**
A progressive and pioneering special school in Birmingham, near Sheldon, is looking for full-time SEN (Special Educational Needs) Teaching Assistants to support students with PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties) who require manual handling.
The role would involve 1:1 work with a student, therefore being flexible and active is key. The pupil age range is between 2-11. The school offers a curriculum and wrap-around support for pupils that is bespoke to their needs and abilities, as all students either have a statement of Special Educational Need or an EHCP (Education and Health Care Plan). What’s paramount to them is ensuring that pupils experience a curriculum which is concrete (experiential), pictorial or abstract depending on their need.

Pay can go up to £120 a day, depending on experience and if you can impress during a paid trial, which the school is more than happy to arrange to give you a real taste. The school’s hours of this role are 8.30am - 4pm.
**The ideal SEN Teaching Assistant should**:
- Have experience or a passion for working with children with SEN
- Be able to offer manual handling
- Be flexible, proactive and patient
- Be nurturing and caring in your approaches
- Be able to communicate effectively within a team
- Be open to providing personal care
- Have a Background in Education, Care, Psychology or Drama, as these are very transferable.
- Training or experience in non-verbal communication is preferred, but a willingness to learn is essential. For example Makaton, PECS
