**NEF Summary**:
At the National Energy Foundation, our team is forward thinking in its approach to home energy and uses its influence and projects to make meaningful change. Our primary focus is delivering projects aimed at alleviating fuel poverty and helping residents to feel warmer, healthier and more comfortable in their homes whilst also helping them cut the cost of their fuel bills. In the next five years, we will seek to help more than 170,000 households out of fuel poverty. Beyond this, we seek to encourage homeowners to make improvements to their homes to increase energy efficiency. To enable this, we deliver several projects aimed at encouraging retrofit of energy efficient heating systems into UK homes.
**Job Role**

The Business Insight Lead will work in the business support team, helping NEF to understand the organisation and sector in which we operate. They will focus on analysing data, in many forms, to help inform what we do. They will lead and embed the use of evidence-based insight to achieve our vision and strategic priorities. We are looking for a person that is curious, collaborative and passionate about systems, spreadsheets and data to be our Business Insight Lead; a newly created role.
- Data insight Development:
- In coordination with key internal and external stakeholders, define, develop and implement data insight capability that aligns with NEF’s vision, strategic priorities and desired outcomes, making it accessible and usable to the charity’s leaders.
- Data Insight Analysis and Management
- Collate, consolidate and analyse complex demographic, community-based, financial and other data, presenting this clearly to enable and inform evidence-based decision making.
- Establish and maintain standardised reporting mechanisms that are comparable and accurate.
- Develop, document and embed the processes for maintaining datasets; ensure that there is ‘one version of the truth’ and shared language for describing and deriving insights from data.
- Data Insight Reporting
- Collect and present data insight, using a range of presentation methods, for example, dashboards, maps, graphs, and PowerPoint. Any of these may be used to contribute to reports and presentations to a wide range of audiences and therefore information must be present in an appropriately accessible way.
- Build ongoing information analysis capability across the charity, facilitating effective data comprehension and innovation in its usage.
- Support the CEO and SMT through provision of ad hoc reporting as required.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Support key stakeholders in their use of data by providing timely and accessible information on how to use it effectively.
- Act as the driving force for improvements in data collection, reporting and analysis; working in partnership with stakeholders to request, collect and process data.
- Work with senior leaders to prepare data led presentations and pitches for external audiences and potential funders.
- Sector Knowledge
- Develop a strong understanding of NEF’s strategy, objectives and operations.
- Become an expert in the fuel poverty and UK domestic retrofit sectors, understanding policy direction, trends.
- Develop benchmarks and up to date analysis of sector and competitor performance and focus to inform NEF strategy.
- Understand not only how to create data and analysis - but how to present it in an engaging and informative way to a diverse range of audiences.
**Person Specification**
This role will require:
- A strong and visible passion and commitment to the charity, its strategic objectives and cause.
- Working and thinking independently, sometimes raising challenging questions or observations.
- Excellent inter-personal and relationship building abilities; comfortable in a senior environment.
- Excellent data analysis and interpretation skills, with an excellent understanding of how to collate and present that data.
- Excellent use of Excel (and similar) is a must. Knowledge and experience of Xero and MS Dynamics 365 is desired, but not an absolute requirement

Pay: £32,000.00-£33,000.00 per year
