**Teaching Support - GUST Independent School, Ashington, Northumberland**
We are an established independent alternative school, offering both primary and secondary placements. We are currently looking to recruit another Teaching Support Worker in our secondary provision to join our small, dedicated team.
If you can inspire, support and motivate pupils who have been removed from mainstream education, then we want to hear from you.
Being able to relate well to, and communicate with children is essential for this role. A can-do attitude, a flexible approach and a willingness to take part is a must.
**You would be expected to do the following**:
- Work alongside Teacher/Supervisor to enable the smooth running of the classroom/workshop and to ensure that resources are managed effectively with the help of Teacher/Supervisor.
- Be flexible to cover different job roles in event of staff shortages.
- Under direction from Teacher/Supervisor assist in the learning and achievement of all learners in the classroom/workshop, ensuring equality of opportunity for all.
- Be responsible and accountable for achieving the highest possible standards in work and conduct.
- Treat learners with dignity, building relationships rooted in mutual trust and respect, and at all times observing proper boundaries appropriate to your professional position.
- Take responsibility for day-to-day supervision of learners.
- Assist in managing learners effectively, using approaches which are appropriate to learners’ needs in order to inspire, motivate and challenge learners.
- Have high expectations of behaviour, promoting self-control and independence of all learners.
- Be responsible for improving your teaching support role through participating fully in training and development opportunities identified by the school or as developed as an outcome of your appraisal
- Be committed to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of all pupils within the school
- Be familiar with the content of the most recent Keeping Children Safe in Education policy (KCSIE).

We will request an enhanced DBS check prior to starting date.
There is flexibility around the hours of this role.
A competitive salary can be discussed.

**Salary**: £9.50 per hour
