The Opportunity:
We are seeking an enthusiastic research assistant to join the pre-cancer team investigating the role of mutation and
environment on cell competition in epithelial tissues led by Phil Jones.

About the Role:
You will be working in a research laboratory and support the team's research into cell competition in epithelial tissues using a variety of techniques including primary cell culture and CRISPR technology. Your primary role will be to provide team members with tissue culture support including maintaining laboratory tissue culture reagent stocks. Depending on demand you will also be expected to provide molecular biology support to team members, in the form of, but not limited to, DNA extractions, PCRs and mycoplasm testing.
You will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day management of the lab, including health and safety, monitoring lab
resources and reporting equipment/experiment faults and assist in trouble-shooting.

About You:
You will have experience of tissue culture techniques and ideally working with primary cells as well as a minimum of one
years experience in a molecular biology lab. You will have a demonstrable ability to maintain attention to detail while performing repetitive tasks.
You will be given training and guidance to fulfil the role to work independently as well as part of a team. You will have
good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

Technical Skills:

- Experience working in a molecular biology lab
- Experience of tissue culture; ideally with primary cells
- Demonstrable ability to maintain quality and attention to detail while performing repetitive and routine tasks

- Strong teamwork ethic, eager to support members of the team and report progress in an open and timely manner
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and efficiently, correctly interpret results and work without supervision
- Excellent organisational skills and record keeping
- Good communication skills, confident in disseminating information to colleagues
