**Service Designer**
An experienced Senior Service Designer is required to support the continued delivery of services for our client, as such Pertemps Scotland are currently recruiting for this public sector role on a temporary basis of 6 months with potential extension. This role is remote for the foreseeable with a day rate of **£450-£500** (Inside IR35)
The role of the Service Designer is based within Service Design, this department offers a range of capabilities to the organisation including User Experience researchers, Business Analysts and Agile coaches, amongst others. Service Design covers a broad remit in working to understand our customer needs and placing those at the heart of how we design and deliver our digital services, organise our people and deliver operational processes.
**Your Role**
- As Service Designer you will support the delivery of missions across the business ecosystem, strategic roadmap and corporate plan - deploying a range of business analysis methods, tools and techniques across the full-service design in the Transfer of Part area of the business.
- You will be positioned in the heart of our land and property service, working with a primary team of Business analysts, Agile coaches, User Experience Researchers and Service managers. Your aim is to identify improvements for operational efficiencies and organisational change within work flows and existing digital products and then work with secondary groups of people to pilot and implement these changes.
- Your role will be to provide service design advice and knowledge at a senior practitioner level and support the delivery of outcomes on the mission roadmap and wider business ecosystem. Map end to end services in line with user needs and business requirements and redesign services and/or embed new services focussing on 'What matters to the user'.
- Help to embed Service design thinking into the service area and provide the skills needed, you will support the Service Design community with other internal and external colleagues and junior staff with their development and upskilling.
- In this role you will work with our communication and organisational design professionals to assist in helping to reduce the impact of change and be confident in engaging stakeholders and working with established governance forums such as the technical design authority. Facilitating co-design with colleagues in the business areas to produce improvements for services and implement improvements across small groups to monitor and assess risk and impact before implementing on a larger scale whilst measuring changes to ensure effectiveness through data gathered for business and colleague impact.
**Essential**:
- The Ability to listen to the needs of the technical and business stakeholders, and interpret between them. Manage stakeholders' expectations and be flexible and where necessary building consensus between services or independent stakeholders
- You must be capable of proactive and reactive communication and to facilitate difficult discussions within the team or with diverse senior stakeholders.
- Experience of working with higher impact or more complex risks.
- Experience of leading others to make good design decisions, mentoring others through pairing, role modelling and sharing best practice.
- You are able to identify and understand constraints across the business or service, and can communicate these and work within them, when needed challenging the validity of constraints ensuring standards are being met.
- Able to identify problems or issues in the team dynamic and rectify them using varying types of feedback, choosing the right type at the appropriate time and ensuring discussions and decisions are actioned as appropriate.
- Experience of utilising user research and design service patterns for use across multiple services and can identify the simplest approach out of a variety of approaches. Understanding and utilising both quantitative and qualitive data in service design projects.
- Experience of Service Design in an operational setting and lean and systems thinking would be advantageous to the role.
- A Standard Scottish Disclosure is required for this position.
