An exciting new Supported living development is opening we are looking for support workers who want to make a difference to people. This is a new purpose-built development which will specialise in supporting individuals with autism, complex needs & people that could challenge. This is a chance to be part of a brand new team who will shape the service from the very beginning in the Hull & East Riding areas.

We are passionate about providing excellent care and support to individuals living with mental health conditions, learning disabilities and Autism. As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to be part of a rewarding journey enabling our tenants to live as independently as possible.

- Working towards achieving as much involvement, independence and choice as possible for tenants in their day to day lives, led by individual programmes and operational policies.
- Supporting tenants to attend and gain new experiences within their local community.
- Having a willingness to be respectful, accepting and tolerant of the people that require support, ensuring that tenants needs are met and that the dignity of tenants and staff is maintained at all times.
- Ensuring the upkeep of tenants records where appropriate.
- Being supportive of tenants in all areas identified within the tenants plan of care with an emphasis on the promotion of progressive interdependence/ social and personal development.
- Assisting in the development of tenants personal plans, their implementation and monitoring.
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with tenants which will compliment and contribute to the care programme and create a pleasant environment in which to live.
- Participating in the preparation and serving of meals with tenants where appropriate, taking into account tenants personal preferences, choice and the need for a balanced diet.
- Supporting tenants with daily tasks such as shopping, cleaning attending appointments, volunteering opportunities ensuring that independence is promoted at all times.
- Complete medication competency and administer medications safely in accordance with company policy.
- Contributing to effective communications with tenants, their relatives, friends, professional helpers and other members of staff, ensuring the continuity of quality and safety in the provision of personal care services.
- Reporting any hazards and defects, with the building or equipment, to your line manager, home manager, or the maintenance person.
- Possessing the ability to diffuse/resolve stressful situations with the use of effective communication skills.
- Undertaking training and development courses as required and to contribute to the identification of own training and development needs.
- Attending all statutory and mandatory training as required by the Company in order to fulfil your duties.

Desirable:

- NVQ/QCF Level 2 or equivalent in Health & Social Care
- Willing to work towards NVQ Level 3
- Experience of working in a care environment, especially mental health
- Basic understanding of using IT systems (MS Office, Web Based System)

- Good interpersonal skills
- Able to retain information and carry out instructions accurately
- Able to maintain confidentiality
- Able to accurately record basic physical observations
- Able to prioritise workload
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Able to use own initiative
- Experience of working with people
- Have an understanding of The REACH Standards
