**The Role**:
The Financial Risk department supports Risk and With-Profits committees and the Board with valuable insight to support decision making and to understand the prudential and financial risks faced by NFU Mutual.

We monitor movements in the financial risk appetite positions and drive actions to ensure that the capital always remains within the acceptable ranges. We support the With-Profits Committee to ensure that the with profits fund and products are managed in accordance with our Principles and Practices of Financial Management (PPFM) rules, and lead communications with the PRA on commercially sensitive items and items of strategic importance and provide prudential risk-based opinions up to and including the CEO and the Board.

We work closely with the business to ensure that risks are understood and facilitated within risk appetites. With opportunities to grow and develop your skills in a large organisation, you’ll have exposure to a wide range of stakeholders and the ability to influence strategic decision making.

**Job Specification**:

- Study towards qualification as a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA). You will be supported through the IFoA qualification with study days, an Actuarial Study Mentor, with budgets available for exam entries and a wide range of study materials.
- Develop knowledge of NFU Mutual's products and our customers
- Process and analyse data to allow it to be used in actuarial calculations. Investigate anomalies and recommend amendments. - Develop, refine and operate actuarial models.
- Summarise results and draft written reports from model results to enable the business to make decisions in the interests of customers and the business.
- Be inquisitive and challenge existing processes/procedures, advising on alternative approaches - offering solutions to problems.
- Communicate the output of technical actuarial work effectively to non-technical colleagues.
