Barista / Bakery Assistant

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Barista/Bakery Assistant to join our team in our Stockbridge shop. As a Barista/Bakery Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in creating a welcoming and enjoyable café experience for our customers.. Your primary responsibilities will include preparing and serving a variety of beverages, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and providing excellent and warm customer service. This is a dynamic and fast-paced role that requires a passion for coffee, strong attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a team environment.

Twelve Triangles is a scratch sourdough bakery started by Rachel and Emily in 2015. Alongside our bakery we also have our own savoury kitchen, specializing in creating as many house products as possible, from fermented goods, deli products, lunch options, and more. Our kitchen and bakery is located right off Easter Road and we now have 8 stores around Edinburgh and the Scottish Borders.

**Responsibilities**:

- Beverage Preparation: Prepare and serve a wide range of coffee and tea beverages, adhering to established recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines.
- Customer Service: Greet customers warmly, take orders, and provide attentive and friendly service throughout their visit. Answer any questions they may have about the menu or products.
- Cash Handling: Process cash and card transactions accurately and efficiently, ensuring proper handling of payments and providing customers with correct change.
- Cleanliness and Organization: Maintain a clean and well-organized work area, including the coffee preparation station, seating areas, and customer service counter. Regularly clean and sanitize equipment and utensils to meet health and safety standards.
- Stock Management: Monitor and replenish supplies. Notify your supervisor when inventory is low to ensure uninterrupted service.
- Menu Knowledge: Familiarize yourself with the bakery menu offerings, including ingredients, preparation methods, and any seasonal or special items. Make recommendations to customers based on their preferences and dietary needs.
- Food Preparation: Assist in the preparation of simple food items, such as sandwiches, toasties and salads.
- Multitasking: Efficiently handle multiple tasks, such as taking orders, preparing beverages, serving customers, and cleaning, while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Customer Engagement: Engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner, creating a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere. Listen attentively to customer feedback and address any concerns or complaints promptly and courteously.
- Health and Safety: Adhere to all health and safety regulations and guidelines, including proper food handling and storage practices. Ensure compliance with sanitation and cleanliness standards to maintain a safe environment for customers and staff.

Qualifications:

- Knowledge of Coffee and Beverages: Familiarity with different coffee brewing methods, espresso-based beverages, tea varieties, and specialty drinks is an asset.
- Customer-Oriented Attitude: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanor. Ability to provide exceptional customer service and create a positive customer experience.
- Team Player: Ability to work effectively as part of a team, supporting colleagues during busy periods and demonstrating flexibility in handling various tasks.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent time management and organizational abilities, with the capacity to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy and precision in beverage preparation, order taking, cash handling, and maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards.

- Availability: Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as café hours may vary.
