**Human Resources Adviser**

**Purpose of the post**:
To provide a comprehensive HR advisory and consultancy service that facilitates and enables effective people management and contributes to policy and strategy development.

To be a full effective member of the Central HR team supporting flexibly especially at times of peak demand.

Main tasks
- To provide a professional HR advisory service to school leaders which meets identified needs and supports continuous improvement in people management including advice and support regarding conditions of service, employment legislation, absence management, disciplinary, grievance, performance management, recruitment and selection etc.
- To support or lead meetings under the formal HR policies e.g. absence management, disciplinary, grievance etc.
- To manage case work taking individual cases from initial meetings through to formal hearings.
- To assist in the development and implementation of people management policies and procedures.
- To work with Trade Unions to ensure the continued development and maintenance of good employee relations, participating in formal and informal consultation and negotiation exercises.
- To prepare reports as required and attend meetings as necessary.
- To assist in the delivery of training programmes that relates to employment legislation or human resources policies.
- To support with the preparation and placement of job advertisements with current job specification and other recruitment documents.
- To support with selection activities as required.
- To complete DBS risk assessments for new starter if pre-employment checks are incomplete and advise managers on a case by case basis
- To carry out other risk assessments e.g. stress, maternity and other health related issues in conjunction with the school / service manager.
- To carry out duties associated with the Central staff team including return to work interviews and exit interviews.
- To monitor, analyse and report on people management data as required (absence / vacancies / exit interviews etc.)
- To take part in training and development activities as identified in discussions with line manager and to take responsibility for personal training and development.
- To provide a service which supports the Trust’s wider statutory responsibilities and meets the Trust’s requirements in ensuring financial probity and value for money.
- To undertake any additional duties to support the Central HR service including recruitment and on-boarding activities at peak times.
