**Role Purpose**

As volunteer coordinator, your role will be to build relationships in the community and with other organisations to help us reach people who might be interested in volunteering with us. You’ll also work with leaders and teams across Beaumond House in the recruitment, training, and placement of volunteers in different departments. You will be responsible for the ongoing coordination of volunteers helping them to enjoy their time with us and get the most from their volunteering experience.

**Main Duties**
- Proactive sourcing of new volunteers to support services throughout the hospice
- Community engagement with individuals and organisations leading to positive, long lasting volunteer opportunities and partnerships
- Advertise for, recruit and help to retain volunteers across different departments and sites
- Administration for recruitment including DBS and reference checks
- Coordinate volunteer training and induction
- Lead on the annual review of the volunteer handbook
- Develop relationships with hospice volunteers to understand their motivations, provide effective stewardship and ensure their welfare is managed
- Coordinate volunteer communication preferences and regularly communicate with volunteers including regular newsletters, meetings and long service awards.
- Lead on the development and implementation of a volunteer strategy for the hospice
- Manage feedback from volunteers, communicating effectively with the heads of department across the organisation
- Keep up to date with new volunteer sector developments, identifying new opportunities for volunteering
- Speaking at volunteer sector events, community group meetings, colleges and schools
- Representation of the hospice at external meetings and events where there is potential for recruiting volunteers
- Knowledge of the hospice services to speak publicly about the importance of hospice care to attract volunteers and raise the profile of the hospice
- Some flexible working is required meaning weekend and evening work on occasions
- Work with the fundraising team particularly with community event planning and delivery
- Provide a central point of communication for volunteers
- Provide data reports as required by the Chief Executive
- Record volunteer activity on the database and produce statistics a dashboard and insights as required
- Develop and carry out an annual volunteer survey
- Success will be measured through volunteer recruitment and retention rates and the number of new community partnerships established
- Maintain good working relationships with all charity stakeholders including trustees, staff, volunteers, supporters, members of the public and potential volunteers or donors
- Comply with charity sector laws and regulations
- Undertake any reasonable task as requested by the line manager and carry out duties necessary to ensure effective performance of this post.

**Administration**
- Take responsibility for your own administration, always completing it to the highest and most thorough standards.
- Maintain accurate and up to date records using agreed systems such as the volunteer database and MS Office 365.
- Respond in a timely manner to enquiries/queries.

**General Duties**
- Work collaboratively and cooperatively with your Beaumond House colleagues
- Complete mandatory staff training according to the training plan
- Abide by the Health and Safety at Work Act
- Work within Beaumond House policies and procedures
- Always behave in a professional manner, reflecting and maintaining Beaumond House values

**Skills, Experience and Attributes Required**
- Knowledge and experience of hospice or palliative care is desirable, not essential
- Experience of working with volunteers
- Strong planning and operational service delivery skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Flexibility, excellent listening skills and an ability to build a rapport with others and a friendly and sensitive approach.
- Access to a car and willingness to travel across the area of operation when required
- Working in a similar role or with transferable skills
- Experience of working for a charity is desirable but not essential
