We are therefore seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic climate change consultant to help develop and shape this growing area of work. You will join an innovative and award-winning team committed to playing our part in tackling carbon emissions.
Our current projects include local authority renewable energy and low carbon studies, policy research, preparing planning guidance on delivering carbon related policy requirements, using carbon data to shape spatial planning options, identifying carbon sequestration opportunities at both plan and project level and writing EIA climate change chapters and related guidance.
You will be undertaking technical report writing and analysis on a wide range of projects, ensuring a high quality of outputs and timely delivery. This will include analysing the latest academic and grey literature to produce concise and accurate reports and identifying and manipulating technical datasets to support and inform findings. This will incorporate opportunities to engage and develop new and pioneering areas of work and collaborate across disciplines, teams and locations. Our carbon management team, work with colleagues from planning, ecology, landscape design and management, historic environment and agri-environment.
A key part of this role will be helping develop and establish our carbon accounting processes and models.
The role includes the opportunity to share and participate actively in the management and ownership of the business through the Employee Ownership Trust, which places full ownership of the company with the employees.
A full-time role is based on 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday). However, LUC has a strong track record in flexible working and we have been recognised for our flexible working culture, so we are happy to discuss a range of flexible working options for this role including part time hours (minimum 30 hours per week) if desired.
Graduate salaries start at £25,000 per annum (full time). Additional qualifications and / or experience will command salaries up to £31,000.

**About you**:
We are seeking a climate change specialist who is looking to expand their knowledge and skills whilst working with a people-centred, employee-owned organisation and an award-winning planning team.
You will be enthusiastic about getting involved in a wide range of projects whilst developing new tools to help carbon decision making processes at all levels.
**Experience and qualifications**
Required
- Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline or have a blend of knowledge and qualifications reflecting a similar level of expertise (scientific, engineering or environmental fields).
- Excellent working knowledge of MS Excel and Word.
- Understanding and interest in carbon accounting and carbon management in a wide range of sectors.
- Interest in climate change policy and scientific development.
- Strong communication skills and willingness to engage with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Ability to write concise and accurate reports and convey technical information in an accessible way.
- Desire to remain at the forefront of innovative and award-winning thinking in this important area of work.
- An enthusiastic and flexible attitude and an eagerness to take on new challenges.
- Full driving licence.
Desirable
- Coding software knowledge (Python, R etc.) would be desirable
- Comfortable performing statistical analysis and building/maintaining models.
- Understanding of sustainability and carbon management in the built environment.
