WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are currently recruiting for Team Leader Project Quality Inspector to join EPSOM Programme.
The individual in this role will support the Project Quality Manager in in the delivery of numerous quality inspection and testing activities on the Programme and be expected to lead, coach and manage a multi skilled diverse team of approximately 10 Quality Technicians/Inspectors with the objective to deliver our products and services safely, to time, cost and quality. The individual will also provide support to the Project Quality Engineers and Supplier Quality Engineers where required. The role will report directly into the Project Quality Manager.
**Position Duties and Responsibilities**
This individual will be responsible for:
- Manage all aspects of people management including day to day responsibility of teams’ performance management and development to include attendance, sickness, overtime approvals, training (where appropriate), PDP’s (Personal Development Plans), behavioural and conduct related issues.
- Engage, listen and effectively communicate to teams of responsibility to optimise quality performance.
- Allocate work to the Team at the start of shift and communicate issues, progress and achievements at an end of shift meeting.
- Lead a continuously improving culture within teams of responsibility that will provide year on year benefit.
- Be responsible for resource allocation ensuring team are SQEP to conduct tasks.
- Ensure compliance to production plans, Service Order scheduling and allocation of orders.
- Review tasks to ensure they have been completed to required standards which will result in robust right first time work acceptance performance.
- Ensure risk and method statements are in place and given so work is completed to the high SHE standards.
- Planning immediate team resources to meet business need and delivery.
- Be responsible for team outputs ensuring safety, quality and cost performance is delivered to the highest standards.
- Take ownership of apprentices and ensure they are given the level of training and support that will ensure future talent realisation.
- Conduct internal and external audits in own area to ensure compliant.
- Quickly integrating into the project quality management team within the programme and work with other programme stakeholders to deliver a successful project.
- Support or act as an auditor in the planning, conducting and reporting of system, process and compliance audits.
- Perform varied tasks associated with visual and dimensional inspection, from first article submissions through final inspection, required in the fabrication and assembly integration and test of components and assemblies of all specified material types, bonded parts and other miscellaneous accessories.
- Check components, tooling, S.T.T.E. of all specified material types or tooling dimensional characteristics such as; locations, concentricity's, parallelism, height, angles and squareness using precision measuring equipment.
- Operating knowledge of Laser Scanning and Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), Faro Arms. Examine materials received from suppliers, and internal manufacture, providing reports and analysis as required.
- Perform visual inspection, non destructive testing (NDT), dye penetration testing and dimensional inspection of welded assemblies in accordance with requirements / drawings.
- Release at Source activities at Supply Base.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE
- NVQ Level 3 qualification Engineering Apprenticeship (or equivalent qualification).
- Minimum 3 years of Leadership experience in Quality assurance/Manufacturing bias, or assembly experience working within an engineering or production environment in a similar industry.
- Ability to read complex engineering drawings - understand GDT&T (Geometrical Dimentioning & Tolerancing)
- Ideally either IOSH or NEBOSH trained.
- Computer literate in Microsoft office essential
- Operating knowledge of SAP and Teamcenter
- Experienced apprentice trained quality inspection and testing professional who is adaptable and reliable with the ability to prioritise and work effectively to deadlines.
- Auditor status or equivalent experience
- Experienced in the use and care of standard measurement tooling
- Qualified and/or experienced in non-destructive testing techniques including mechanical and visual inspection techniques, dye penetration, magnetic particle and radiographic testing.
- Working knowledge of Coordinate measurement equipment
- Strong Quality inspection related experience
- Qualified in an appropriate Quality related technical discipline or equivalent experience
- Have a strong working knowledge and experience in Quality Planning and Assurance systems; policies, processes, procedures and records
- Experience of ISO 9001 or similar quality related standards
- A working knowledge of Root Cause & corrective actions (RCCA) methodologies
