**JOB OVERVIEW**

We have a rare and exciting opportunity for a motivated and ambitious Assistant Maintenance Building Surveyorto work with the organisation’s energetic, customer focused and committed responsive maintenance team.

Working as the Assistant Maintenance Building Surveyor you will ensure that repairs work is carried out accurately and on time, maximising resources for improvement programmes and managing works in progress to ensure they conform to regulations and specifications.

As the Assistant Maintenance Building Surveyor you will be willing to work towards an HNC/HND in a Building-related course. If you also have a CIH Level 3 qualification in Housing Management that would be ideal. You should also have basic knowledge of theSocial Housing law, knowledge of Responsive Repairs in Housing and an understanding of construction industry methods and techniques.

With a customer-focused, flexible and cooperative working style and excellent verbal and written communication skills, you will be able to problem-solve, have good attention to detail and work effectively under pressure.

You will be keen to progress within the profession and training will be given to support the right individual to become a fully qualified Maintenance Surveyor.

A driving licence and access to a vehicle for work is required.

**DUTIES**:
Your duties as the Assistant Maintenance Building Surveyor will include:

- Undertake surveys of properties in relation to responsive, voids, planned and programmed maintenance as appropriate
- Handle enquiries made by residents, advising and dealing sympathetically
- Maintain accurate records of all surveys and inspections
- Carry out procurement of works
- Prepare specifications, schedules of work and any costs/estimates where required
- Carry out checks on works undertaken by contractors
- Coordinate work activities and liaise with colleagues, with emphasis on maintaining a consistent approach in relation to specification and performance standards
- Develop partnership working with estate management staff and property inspectors in reviewing future programmes, exchanging data, developing tenant participation and involvement
- Assist in organising public meetings in relation to programmes of work and to attend any customer panel meetings, liaison meetings etc.
- Assist in meeting all client/designer responsibilities and duties in respect of Health and Safety legislation for construction activities
- Implement contract monitoring practices and techniques to ensure that Best Value is achieved
- Carry out special projects as required by the Repairs Manager
