**Job description**:

DIO manages the Defence estate, one of the UK’s largest and most diverse property portfolios, enabling the armed forces and Defence civilians to live, work, train and deploy. The team provide governance over the information held within master systems of record to enable the organisation to have trust in the data used in decision making tools. The data programme for DIO is owned and maintained by the Data Governance & Programme team, on behalf of the business, to prioritise the data DIO collects, in alignment with the DIO strategic direction.

The team is responsible for ensuring the data held within the master systems of record is maintained, proactively identifying continuous improvement activity required to improve the quality and completeness of information and data.

**Person specification**:
The Data Exploitation (DEx) Data Governance team leads on the delivery data in support of bespoke analytical projects for Defence customers. The Data Governance Team provides specialist support to data projects including special support to cross government projects. The team provides specialist independent data assurance and SME advice on data standards along with processing changes to the master systems of record through the BAU change process. The team are also responsible for owning and maintaining the data programme in support of the key products.
- The key objectives of this role are:
- Provide visible leadership and support the DH with the strategic

direction within the team to successfully deliver DEx outputs in
- line with programme requirements- Ensuring the data programme is maintained and aligns to wider

departmental plans- Work alongside CIO within the DDaT function, ensuring the

data availability for all DEx products is available for exploitation
- and the programmes are aligned to ensure delivery of agreed
- products, review processes and working practices, identifying
- risks to the delivery of the programme- Develop and maintain robust relationships across the

organisation to ensure cohesion across the programmes- Support maturing of effective functional Communities of

Practice that draw on experience and expertise from across DEx
- to mature functions and inform standards and ways of working
- in major programme delivery.- Provide support to the Deputy Head Data Governance and

Programme lead and where required deputise- Provide a support role to the DH with the interface within DEx,

identifying blockers to delivery and working collaboratively to
- deploy solutions, representing DEx when the DH is unavailable
- in a deputising role- Provide advice, support and development to the team to

enable delivery for all objectives- Work with DEx PfMo function to ensure any conflicts with

work/resource priorities are addressed and programmed into
- the Five Year Plan and are coherent with the whole end to end
- delivery- Promote collaborative working practices with all team

members, customers and partners in support of the data
- governance programme, supporting the embedding of Data
- Owners and Data Stewards across the organisation, influencing
- a change of culture to recognise data as an asset.**Desirable Experience and Skills**:

- Experience of working in a Data Governance environment and

of implementing appropriate frameworks.- Programme or Project Management experience - APM or

equivalent qualification- Experience of Programme or Project Management. Relevant
