The Role

RADA is seeking a qualified experienced individual with clinical expertise and knowledge of counselling or wellbeing support in educational or performing arts settings.

The Head of Student Wellbeing provides clinical assessments, crucial one-to-one pastoral support and crisis intervention to students. They also provide advice to teaching and professional services staff handling student concerns. The post-holder will line manage the Student Wellbeing Team, including a Wellbeing Advisor, Disability Coordinator and Student Advisor, and a number of freelance counsellors, therapists and non-medical helpers. They will be responsible for the effective operation of the service and for developing provision in response to emerging needs. The postholder will also act as RADA’s Designated Safeguarding Lead, acting as the first point of contact for staff with safeguarding concerns and contributing to the development of policy and practice in this area.

**To be successful in this role you must have**:
A Postgraduate Diploma or Higher Education qualification in Counselling/Psychotherapy/ Counselling Psychology.

BACP, UKCP or BPS Accreditation or Registration with an equivalent professional body.

Substantial knowledge of the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Demonstrable understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities, including cultural issues about access to counselling and the legal and organisational frameworks for equal opportunities.

Sound knowledge of clinical governance for delivering a professional and ethical service.

At least three year’s post-qualification counselling experience, including at least one year in an educational setting.

Experience of clinical assessments, and making appropriate referrals to counselling, learning and practical support.

Experience of risk assessment and crisis intervention.

Experience of managing staff.
