**WHAT TO EXPECT**

The role is within the Chassis and Motion Control Systems department, forming part of the Body/Chassis Engineering. The department develops control systems and delivers software design for existing and future Chassis, Electrical, AAD Motion Control, and various new technologies and enhancing the driving experience and working towards the goal of automated driving. We, AAD Motion Control team, develop control systems into the next generation of vehicle electrical architectures. We are responsible for both the lateral and longitudinal motion control of the vehicle. The control systems being developed cover a wide range of autonomy from ADAS level 1 to ADAS level 4. We use model-based design methods and have fully adopted the Agile transformation JLR is going through.

The role is responsible for project leadership of system architecture design. Although the role has a focus on project management within the Agile methodology of Scrum, the successful applicant will remain technically involved in the system engineering activities, too. As a result, you will develop an in-depth understand of the influence of new electrical architectures on control functions and define architectural changes that retain or enhance system performance. Key performance indicators for this role are system engineering artefacts created, requirements delivered to subsystems, documentation in accordance with industry best practice and internal standards, alignment with other product squads on work products and dependencies, and safe & operational system delivery on all product prototypes.

**Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities**
- Own and manage squad road map and a system development plan. Report out at regular intervals.
- Help your product squad focus on creating high-value product increments which deliver the highest value.
- Ensure that scrum and Agile ceremonies take place and are positive and productive.
- Product Goal definition and Product Backlog management. Manage risks and remove impediments. This requires alignment with all stakeholders including suppliers and development partners.
- Plan and execute the definition of logical system design and requirements with your squad.
- Deliver system architectures for motion control to be compatible with the next generation of vehicle electrical architectures; ensure that the right product is delivered to all future vehicle programmes.
- Generate technical evidence to show that architectures meet JLR standards and system performance requirements.
- Identify requirements for cascade to elements beyond the control system boundary (e.g. sensors, electrical architecture, ECU base software etc). Ensure dependencies on others is well understood by all stakeholders.
- Define network communication requirements for the deployment of control systems. Submit requirements into the networks design process with documentation and providing support throughout the approvals process.
- Define work packages required to realise and test control systems.

**WHAT YOU’LL NEED**

**Knowledge, Skills and Experience**

**Essential**:

- Expert level project management and leadership working with large multidisciplinary project teams.
- An understanding of vehicle network communications, ECUs and electronics
- Prior experience of Model Based software delivery for safety critical systems in accordance with a quality management process.
- Excellent verbal and written communication adjusted to the interest of the audience and the desired outcome

**Desirable**:

- Experience in Model Based Control System Design
- Agile partitionner certification (Product Owner, Scrum Master, etc.)
- Experience of working with mechatronic actuation systems.
- Knowledge of Functional Safety and Cyber Security tools and processes.
- An understanding of Chassis Control systems and their influence on vehicle dynamic behaviour.
- An understanding of AutoSAR software architectures.
