We are currently seeking a Supply Chain Coordinator to join a well-established, family-run SME based in Glasgow. As Buyer you will primarily be responsible for purchasing most of the company’s items for resale, both from our client's UK-based supply chain and from overseas suppliers. As part of this role, you will also be responsible for many other fundamental components of an efficient and effective procurement function. As such, this role is best suited to a positive, constructive individual with a strong sense of initiative and pro-activeness, and a demonstrated experience in a similar supply chain role.

**Role & Responsibilities**:

- Assess and compile items for ordering from selected suppliers, with particular emphasis on assessing when to re-order imported stocks
- Supplier negotiations, meetings, and ongoing price benchmarking exercises, including comparison of overseas suppliers' proposals for imported stocks to ensure best suitability
- Ensure stock levels, cost prices, and payment terms are aligned with company targets
- Place purchase orders for items for resale with selected suppliers, both from the UK-based supply chain and from overseas suppliers
- Manage purchase order ETAs, expediting where necessary, to ensure customer expectations are fulfilled. This will include organising overseas sea and road freight, and managing the freight movements and customs clearance of imported goods - including liaison with suppliers, the internal Warehouse and Operations team, and updating MRP system
- Assist in supplier and product management queries - such as handling product returns, pursuing credits
- Maintain accurate stock details and the current compliance certificates and specification documents of key suppliers
- Place orders for items for internal use
- Support Head of Supply Chain & Operations with ad-hoc, value-add exercises and projects - such as bespoke product sourcing, quality control, and supplier / market research
- Support New Product Development (NPD) activities - including researching, comparing, and presenting options for new products / features, details of legislation, or emerging trends
- General departmental administration

**Requirements**:

- A minimum of three years’ experience in a similar supply chain role
- Willingness to overcome constraints and possess a strong sense of determination to achieve KPIs
- Demonstrated achievement in identifying and delivering cost reduction opportunities
- Strong focus on supporting customers’ needs and pursuing a high growth target
- Full understanding of the importance of good housekeeping and adherence to systems
- A positive, constructive individual with a strong sense of initiative and pro-activeness
- Strong team ethic, able to build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and suppliers
- Effective verbal and written communications skills at all levels of an organisation, experienced in working with both internal and external stakeholders across different industries and with different challenges
- Strong organisational skills - demonstrated ability in managing a busy, varied, and changeable workload
- Well acquainted with the Microsoft Office suite of programs: Outlook; Excel; Word; PowerPoint; Teams

**Working Hours**: Full-Time; Monday - Friday; 08:00 - 16:30 (reasonable effort will be given to support slightly amended working times)
