We are looking for someone to join our very busy, expanding **Student Support Team **to cover the role of **Pastoral Support Practitioner** for Maternity Leave. We are looking for someone that is experienced in working with young people, ideally within an education environment. You will need to be able to manage a caseload of learners with a wide variety of needs including anxiety, stress, home and relationship issues, general health and well-being as well as supporting those with eating disorders and those who self-injure alongside external support. To offer advice and strategies that will support them to engage in their education. You will need to be resilient and work as part of the Pastoral Team under the supervision of the Student Support Coordinator to triage referrals and manage allocations and caseload. You will work closely with the Safeguarding Team and will be required to work across college to support curriculum teams, ensuring that the best support is in place for individual learners.

To be considered for this role it is essential that you can demonstrate the following:

- Youth Work or related degree foundation or equivalent.
- Level 2 English and Maths (or equivalent).
- Evidence of continued professional development.
- Working with young people developing motivation. resilience and strategy development.
- Facilitating young people to overcome barriers to learning or achieving goals such as health, mental health, disability socio/economic disadvantage.
- Managing learning workloads and pressures.
- Problem solving and taking action to keep a young person focussed on their goals.
- Passionate about working with children and vulnerable adults.
- Both self-motivated with a ‘can do’ attitude and ability to motivate others.
- A strong team player.
- Resilient and empathic.

**Salary: Actual £18295,85 (FTE £22,500)**

**37 hours per week, term time only, Fixed Term Maternity Leave cover (9-12 months)**
