The purpose of this Academy Lead role is to coordinate and deliver the design and development of the new Midlands region Imaging Training Academy

The aim of this forward-thinking training development is to ensure provision of long term and sustainable training capacity within the system and to increase the pipeline of trained medical, clinical and support staff to meet the workforce plans of the region.

Training Academies provide multi-professional environments where training and education of the future workforce is the primary focus, maximising the expertise of experienced educators and supervisors across a broad patch. The overall aim is to increase the number of learners transitioning to the workforce, utilising the Academy model to increase training capacity, to provide a high quality and enhanced training experience and to accelerate learning to independent practice.

The post holder will be responsible to the HEE Midlands Regional Postgraduate Dean and will be responsible for the business and administration functions of the Academy.

The post holder will be responsible for the management of the Academy programme, analysis and reporting on areas of work, and for developing and managing performance and quality assurance processes.

They will be committed to the development of the current and future imaging workforce and demonstrate strategic thinking and innovative problem solving when approaching the complex challenge of delivering multi-professional education. This will need to be done in partnership with colleagues from the NHSE/I Midlands Diagnostics team.

The post holder will work closely with HEE departments, NHS England and Improvement, Higher Education Institutions, clinicians and other stakeholders, to ensure robust project governance, first class communication and to facilitate the required planning and implementation of the Training Academy model.

Demonstrating effective budget management and business planning skills and experience, the postholder will also deliver and adhere to risk management and governance arrangements of all associated workstreams in accordance with HEE Standing Financial Instructions and Standing Orders and HEE Operating Models.

HEE working across the West Midlands is responsible for the delivery of high quality postgraduate medical and dental education and training across the region and HEE is committed to the development of a medical and dental workforce that will support high quality patient care.

Key outputs of the job role are to deliver an Academy model which:

- Increases training capacity and quality across the Midlands for the following professions: - Radiology
- Diagnostic Radiography
- Sonography
- As part of a phased Academy development approach, extends the Academy scope to provide training for: - Medical Physics
- Reporting Radiographers
- Mammographers
- Radiology Nurses
- Assistant Practitioners
- Imaging Support Workers
- Provides multi-professional training across the team
- Provides flexible training opportunities (including simulated, virtual and face-to-face) for staff of all backgrounds
- Supports new and existing staff to access specialised training
- Expands immersive training to support rapid skill development
- Makes best use of existing teaching faculty and resources across the Midlands
- Ultimately delivers world class care and improve outcomes for patients
