Working for our client BAE Systems, this role will report into the Import Operations Team Leader and will have responsibility for the efficient and economical movement of goods in accordance with company policies and in compliance with relevant national andinternational laws.
- Coordinating the movement of products and equipment into the country within the relevant customs regulations
- Accurate and timely raising of customs clearance instructions for various freight agents enabling swift movement of goods
- Cost effective and lawful execution of all import activities accurately, reporting to HM Revenue and Customs
- Dealing with any delivery issues, working closely with freight forwarders and internal customers to ensure all queries are resolved to satisfaction
- Collaborating with internal customers, forwarders and agents to acquire up to date shipment information
- Acting as one of the primary contacts for import queries ensuring their timely response
- Ensuring monthly deadlines are met in relation to HMRC required import declarations
- Understanding and regular utilisation of various duty relief schemes enabling cost effective service to the Business
- Maintaining and sharing with colleagues as appropriate, knowledge of all relevant import law and procedures tariffs and duties licenses and restrictions
- Handling incoming calls from internal and external customers
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in an import / export role
- Must be familiar with the legal requirements regarding importing and exporting of shipments
- Understanding of the role of freight forwarders
- Must be familiar with CFSP procedures
