**Job title**:HR & Compliance Manager
**Main purpose**:To lead Human Resources and Compliance matters across the College, working closely with the Principal, General Manager and other members of the Senior Management Team. The successful applicant must be comfortable with the wider, more general responsibilities of working within a school environment.
**Hours**:Full time, 8.30am to 5.30pm (term time) and 9.00am to 5.00pm (during holiday periods)
**Holidays**: 25 days plus bank holidays
**Reporting line**: Principal
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
**Compliance**
- Ensure all changes to and updates on relevant legislation, regulations and current guidance are brought to the attention of appropriate parties.
- Provide advice and practical support on legal issues relating to the management and running of the College.
- Ensure all required policies are in place, are reviewed in a timely manner and to monitor and audit implementation.
- Ensure College publications (e.g. registration booklet, welcome booklet etc.) and the Parent Contract are in line and up to date with current policies and regulatory requirements and reviewed in a timely manner.
- Ensure appropriate risk assessments are carried out across the College and advise staff with risk assessment responsibilities.
- Maintain a central register of risk assessments and ensure regular reviews as required.
- Maintain the Low Level Concerns log.
- Report to the Governors at the termly Governors’ Compliance & Policy Oversight Committee meetings.
**Human Resources**
- Manage and maintain the Single Central Register (SCR) and ensure that all necessary pre-employment checks, as recommended by KCSIE, ISI and safer recruitment practices, are completed.
- Manage the recruitment process for external and internal recruitment, liaising with the SMT to develop job descriptions and person specifications and to coordinate the interview process.
- Manage the administration associated with the recruitment and appointment process in line with College policy e.g. drafting offer letters, contracts of employment and entering and maintaining staff data in the College’s management information system.
- Ensure all ongoing staff checks are completed (annual driving licence checks, annual disqualification from childcare checks etc.).
- Oversee the induction process for new starters (assign mentors, arrange new starter training etc.).
- Maintain staff personnel records securely and in accordance with the College’s and statutory requirements (paper and electronic records) and maintain the staff list on the College website.
- Ensure the Staff Handbook and relevant website content is in line and up to date with current policies.
- Keep up to date with changes in employment legislation and provide advice, guidance and administrative support regarding all employee relationship matters, including but not limited to absences - short and long term sickness, disciplinaries, capabilities, grievances, redundancies, probation, flexible working requests, return to work meetings.
- Reviewing and preparing (where appropriate) letters/ documents in readiness for and after formal hearings and providing feedback where required.
- Maintain the hospitality and gifts received register.
- Maintain records for all staff training and ensure all staff, peripatetic teachers, volunteers and contractors are appropriately trained.
- Coordinate the Performance Management Review process, advising line managers on the correct procedures to be followed.
- To chair investigatory meetings in line with relevant procedure and be responsible for writing complex reports recommending outcomes and actions to the Principal. Ensuring that any investigatory report and paperwork is in line with policy and any relevant employment/disability law and when necessary, to prepare the College to defend its position e.g. at an employment tribunal.
- To work with the Senior Management Team and contribute pro-actively to the continuation of staff wellbeing initiatives, including the preparation and analysis of staff surveys.
**Other**:
- Attending meetings in an advisory capacity, supporting the chair in complex and sensitive cases through preparation and follow up.
- Coordinate the recruitment of exam invigilators for mock GCSEs and external GCSE exams, working with the Exams Officer and Exams Access Arrangements Coordinator.
- Prepare the full suite of examination policies and appeal documentation annually, in line with the latest guidance in readiness for JCQ inspection.
- Oversee the running of the Internal Appeal Procedure for NEAs, working together with the Head of Departments.
- Schedule termly JNC meetings and prepare the agenda and minutes.
- Act as the named Privacy Officer - responsible for the Data Protection Policy, Privacy Notices and dealing with any data breaches or Subject Access Requests.
