And we’re looking for an innovative, proactive and committed Head of Commercial Marketing to help us realise these ambitions and create a sustainable financial future.

You’ll be leading the Council’s talented marketing team to improve existing income pipelines and identify and develop new ones. This will range from supporting our commercial activity along our 13-miles of golden sandy beaches, to exploring how to grow income through our environmental services.

You will inspire and lead the marketing team to offer marketing consultancy and expertise across all areas of the Council. While commerciality is key, you and your team will also support and advise colleagues on everything from behaviour change campaigns to public consultations. So you’ll be a team-player, working with your peers within the Marketing, Communications and Policy team to understand and deliver against council-wide priorities.

We’re looking for someone who can combine commercial marketing experience with an understanding of how local government works and the unique challenges and opportunities of working in a complex public sector political environment.

Leadership and good management are essential and you’ll be setting professional standards and leading by example. We also have an opportunity to build on the existing breadth and depth within the team to create clear development pathways and career opportunities, embed best practice and shout about the excellent work the team does.

We’re looking for someone who is proactive, unafraid of challenging or being challenged and committed to making the most of the potential within the Marketing team.

In return, you’ll know that you’ve made a major contribution to the financial sustainability of the council and it’s reputation with residents, partners, businesses and visitors.

This is a permanent, full time role with a hybrid working pattern and an expectation that you’ll be in the office in Bournemouth Christchurch or Poole two days a week. BCP Council supports flexible working and we are open to discussion about flexible working patterns.
