**RESTART HOUSING** is a focused and dedicated housing provider, who provide excellent supported temporary accommodation for the homeless. We provide accommodation to vulnerable adults with mental health, offending history, learning disabilities and substance misuse.

ReStart Housing specialise in providing supported accommodation for individuals who are fleeing domestic abuse.

ReStart Housing ensure that the clients are always put at the heart of the service provision ensuring we deliver excellent housing and weekly support. We provide a floating support service to encourage and promote independence so that the clients can take the relevant steps needed to move forward.

**The Role**

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Housing Support Officer to join our ReStart Housing team in Birmingham.

As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for ensuring that quality housing services are delivered to our residents, by working with the Housing Manager and focussing on making a real difference to their lives. This will also be in the form of weekly face to face support. Implementing support plans and working with the resident to ensure that the plans are implemented and followed weekly.

Coupled with your experience of dealing with tenants in a supported housing environment and successfully working with the compliance team to ensure health and safety of all properties managed are checked and any issues reported. You will also have experience of managing frontline maintenance and property by liaising with office management and housing manager and ensuring that your properties ad residents are well managed.

We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Housing Support Staff to work within our team in Birmingham, which is involved in housing and supporting single adults that have been placed in our accommodation by the Council or other organisations to prevent rough sleeping and/or homelessness. This role will involve looking after multiple occupancy accommodation in Birmingham and will include active support and engagement with residents. This is a is a fast moving and occasionally challenging environment, with no two days being the same.

In addition to being responsible for all aspects of the frontline services we run in Birmingham and tenant/resident management, the successful applicant will have significant experience in working with this cohort including experience in undertaking risk assessments, helping with the placement of individuals within accommodation and developing individual person-centred support plans.

**The Successful Applicant will**
- Have significant experience working within a social housing environment, ideally within a Housing Association/Housing Provider and feel comfortable dealing directly with customers with complex needs.
- Have managed residents in a temporary supported living environment
- Will closely work alongside the Housing Manager and take direction with them regarding any difficult situations
- Have an understanding of issues facing, vulnerable people with housing related support needs.
- Must have experience of undertaking assessments, formulating support and action plans and reporting outcomes.
- Experience of providing practical frontline advice and support in a hostel/supported accommodation setting.
- Confidence to work at times in difficult situations with a variety of challenging service users.
- Contribute, participate in and take responsibility for the outreach support service for those people living in our shared accommodation.
- Maintain standards of support and social care.
- Comply with health & safety policies and report any incidents, accidents, risks or hazards to managers so that they can inform the relevant agencies.
- Demonstrate understanding of the supported Housing Standards and ensure that these standards are met in order to ‘put our residents first’.
- Liaise with and support customers with accommodation issues.
- Support customers at every stage of the move on process, including providing some aftercare in the form of support with change of address, registration with a GP and assistance with welfare benefits, where necessary.
- Be responsible for managing the properties - ensuring all properties are well looked after and properly maintained.
- Carry out all check ins and check outs for properties alongside housing officers - new resident sign ups
- Carry out daily inspections to all properties - ensuring the properties are health and safety compliant. Ensuring tenants are adhering to the House Rules (and following the procedures to deal with breaches).
- Assist with inspections and caretaking as and when required - including getting void rooms ready for the next tenant/resident - this may include tidying rooms
