Job description

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Assistant Project Officer to join the Culture Team at Sheffield City Council.

This role is pivotal in acting as a community liaison, coordinator and producer, responsible for communicating, programming and managing a diverse array of cultural projects and programmes.

The role involves improving connections across organisations and events in the city, ensuring cohesive and well-integrated cultural experiences that include organisations working across the sector in order to ensure the best experience for audiences.

The Assistant Project Officer will also work to evaluate and improve projects and programmes, ensuring they meet the ongoing needs and aspirations of the work outlined in the Sheffield Culture Strategy.

We are looking for someone with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, who is passionate about being an advocate for improving engagement with culture and enhancing the vibrancy of Sheffield's cultural offer for all.

The events programme will inform new ways of working with communities, focused on collaboration and co-creation.

**Job requirements**:

- Demonstrable experience of working in the cultural, heritage or voluntary sector.
- Advanced skills in collaborating with diverse stakeholders and communities.
- An experienced events producer/organiser who can help to coordinate and deliver high quality events alongside community members.
- Experience of recruiting and managing work experience placements and volunteers.
- Experience of managing a programme and project budgets.

**You will**:

- Design and deliver programme content/events which contribute to Sheffield’s strategic objectives as set out in the Delivery Plan of the Culture Strategy.
- Collaborate with the Service Manager: Culture and Marketing Sheffield Team to develop and manage a regular event programme to build Sheffield’s reputation for diversity, innovation, and quality that contribute and work alongside the Major Events strategy.
- Ensure the effective delivery of the regular events programme; liaising with organisations and freelance artists, setting objectives, themes and creative parameters with colleagues both within the Council and in the wider creative community.
- Lead on data gathering, evaluation and the creation of case studies, to better monitor the impact of the opportunities being delivered and developed.

Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
