Export Operations Manager

A well-regarded logistics company which specialises in providing services to the aerospace industry, is looking to recruit an **Export Operations Manager**, to be based at offices in the **Heathrow Area**.

**Main Purpose of the Role**:
To manage the Export Day & Night Operations Team. To maximise revenue and profit potential of all export opportunities in balance with excellent customer service. Responsibility for the courier operation.

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Ensure all operators within the Export Day and Night teams are working in compliance with AEO regulations and procedures covering Customs simplifications/security and safety, company ISO 2015 QMS requirements regarding the swift and accurate completionof shipments working within the parameters of the AEO operating procedures and UK customs law.
- Monitor profitability of accounts and explore avenues to increase margins through additional sales of Value-Added Solutions or high light potential changes to operational practices to improve efficiency.
- Maintain and develop customer relationships alongside customer solutions and any other relevant departments.
- Establish and maintain appropriate systems for measuring operational performance thus identifying any changes needed to be implemented to provide positive improvements to working practices.
- Ensuring all billing is carried out by all operatives within the Export Day and Night teams within a timely fashion (within 5 days of POD) monitoring and ensuring correct input of purchase costs into the system by all operators of the Import & Express teamenabling accurate billing and profit reporting. Liaise with overseas offices, partners and vendors ensuring correct costs are received.
- Quotations are responded to in a timely fashion dependent on customer requirements, ensuring all quotations are entered into Boxtop so that they can be followed up by CS team and then converted by the Export Day and Night team if the quotation comes tofruition.
- Monitor staff (attendance, time keeping, sickness & statutory breaks) and take action as necessary if personnel are not compliant with company policies, work with HR department ensuring that any disciplinary if required or grievance response throughoutthe department is carried out in a swift, fair consistent manner within the company’s disciplinary procedures set out in the company handbook.
- Review and approve departmental overtime ensuring costs are monitored and accrued as appropriate, also any changes to staffing levels or working practices are discussed with the General Manager Operations where this may be beneficial to control or reducecosts or increase productivity.
- Ensure that they appraise and develop the Export Day and Night team members to meet their full potential and support the growth of the business.

**To Be Considered**:

- Proven experience within an export managerial, or supervisory, position, ideally within the Freight Forwarding and/or Aerospace industry.
- Sound knowledge of Import and Export Processes, as well as UK Customs law and procedures.
- Sound knowledge of Word, PP, Excel. Project management software an advantage.
- Dangerous Goods Compliant.
- Excellent people management skills.
- Customer focussed with excellent attention to detail, analytical mind with ability to design and implement processes
- Work pro-actively using own initiative.
- Proven communication skills both written and verbal.
- Experienced in dealing with varied customer base and building strong relationships.
- Ability to consider several possible options and decide on most appropriate method.
- Possess appropriate IT skills.
- Excellent process and planning skills.
- Be persistent, tenacious, and determined to win new business.
- Strong commercial awareness and understands impact of actions.
