**Job summary**:
The Burnham Lecturer will ensure effective delivery of Training and Education (T&E) to the Information Management (IM) professional cadre of Senior Information Officer, Information Manager, Information Capability Support Teams and Record Managers.
The Burnham Lecturer will be an integral part of the Defence Digital & Information School team and will manage, deliver, design and review Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT) compliant T&E to the newly appointed IM professionals from across Defence and other organisations.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week
**Job description**:
The DDIS is part of the Delivery Group within the Defence College for Military Capability Integration at the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom. The DDIS team comprises 9 staff (5 military and 4 civil servants) all having a teaching role in delivering the DDIS suite of Information Management (IM) courses.
These courses are essential in supporting Defence in meeting its Digital Strategy and enabling Defence Transformation. The HEO Burnham Lecturer (BL) will be an integral part of the DDIS team and will manage, deliver, design and review DSAT compliant T&E to the newly appointed IM professionals from across Defence and other organisations.
The BL will ensure effective delivery of T&Ecto the IM professional cadre of Senior Information Officer, Information Manager, Information Capability Support Teams and Record Managers.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
To core responsibilities of the role will be to:
1. To lecture on all IM courses delivered by DDIS.
2. To design, develop and maintain training resources for your specific area of specialism; work collaboratively with all staff to ensure that all training resources are kept up to date.
3. To liaise with Course Sponsors where necessary to ensure that all outcomes are being met.
4. To manage specified IM courses; establishing and monitoring course content and delivery.
5. Ensure that both internal and external course validation is supported.
6. To establish and maintain currency on core Information Management Applications relating to delivery of courses.
7. To regularly attend information related workshops / seminars / conferences [both internal and external to the department] to maintain professional effectiveness.
**Person specification**:
Support the Chief Instructor to deliver the Statement of Trained Task for the Department.
Deliver effective lessons across all information professional courses as requested whilst maintaining the lesson specifications.
Continuously improve self and lesson content.
Fully participate in course validations
Act as the course manager as directed by the Chief Instructor.
Complete all mandatory training.
Excellent presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written.
Strong organisational skills.
Excellent IT skills, including word-processing, PowerPoint, spreadsheets and Sharepoint/O365.
Ability to prioritise, work under pressure and to meet strict deadlines.
**Qualifications**:
In addition to this, a teaching qualification that equates to at least level 5 on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) i.e. Cert Ed, is required. (The Postgraduate Certificate in Education is at level 6 on the QCF and is desirable.) In exceptional circumstances, individuals may be recruited to the BL Group without such a teaching qualification. In this case there should be an agreement as part of the job offer that a teaching qualification will be undertaken and should be completed within two standard academic
