**Summary**:
The Information Capability School (ICS) works to the Head of Delivery within the within the Defence College for Military Capability Integration at the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom. The ICS team comprises 9 staff all having a teaching role in delivering the ICS suite of Information Management (IM) courses.
These courses are essential in supporting Defence in meeting its Digital Strategy and enabling Defence Transformation.
This role is responsible for the delivery of lessons on all information capability courses including Record Managers, Information Support Administrators, Information Support Officers, Information Managers and Senior Information Officers, with particular focus on the practical aspects of the courses.. Students will be from across the Ministry of Defence and from all three Services and the Civil Service and at all Ranks and Grades.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week
**Job description**:
- The main responsibilities of the post are to:
- To instruct and/or lecture on Information Management courses delivered by the Information Capability School.
- To design, develop and maintain training material for selected IM Courses.
- To liaise with Course Sponsors on course requirements and the Statement of Trained Task.
- To manage specified IM Courses. This role is to include establishing and monitoring course content and delivery, the allocation of students to courses and implementing internal validation processes and recommendations.
- To establish and maintain currency on core Information Management Applications relating to the delivery of courses.
- To attend information management related workshops, seminars and conferences in order to maintain professional effectiveness.
- To perform the duties as prescribed in the Joint Services Publication 375 'Management of Health and Safety in Defence' as a 4Cs responsible person.**Responsibilities**:
- The post holder will be required to support the Chief Instructor to deliver the Statement of Trained Task (SOTT) for the Department. The SOTT is the annual training target placed on the ICS by its Training Requirements Authority. The ICS SOTT for the current year is 1,600 students. For the next year, the SOTT is expected to rise significantly.
- The post holder will be required to deliver effective lessons across all information professional courses as requested whilst maintaining the lesson specifications. As part of this they will be required to continuously improve their own skills and IM lesson content and fully participate in the IM course validation processes. They will be required to act as the course manager for specific courses as directed by the Chief Instructor.
- In terms of experience and qualifications a teaching qualification would be desirable as would experience of the Government Knowledge and Information Management (GKIM) Professional Skills - specifically GKIM Skills 1 (Using and Exploiting Knowledge and Information), 2 (Managing and Organising Information) and 3 (Information Governance).-
