Resuscitation Officer

We are looking for someone to join our dynamic and friendly team, who is passionate about resuscitation. We provide a clinically focused multi professional resuscitation service and comprehensive educational/training programme across all disciplines (adults/paediatrics/newborn/maternal) and so you will need to have the experience to take a lead in these programmes at the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) and South Sites. As this service is delivered across all the King’s sites, whilst the post is primarily based at the PRUH, working on the Denmark Hill site will be required.
If you have the following essential qualities, we would love to hear from you:
- Ability to facilitate the provision of a highly efficient resuscitation service.
- Advanced Life Support Instructor (RCUK) essential
- European Paediatric Life Support Instructor (RCUK) and/or Advanced Paediatric Life Support Instructor (ALSG) are desirable)
- Experience of working within a critical care/emergency setting
- Proven teaching skills and is an enthusiastic and effective educator
- A strong clinical leader and autonomous practitioner providing expertise at emergency calls
- Excellent communication skills and an ability to relate to and work together with a wide variety of people
- The Resuscitation service operates across all Trust sites. This post is primarily based at the Princess Royal University Hospital There will be some cross site working for this post
- To assist the lead and senior resuscitation team to facilitate the provision of a highly efficient resuscitation service
- To lead/participate in resuscitation training and education in resuscitation practices in conjunction with the senior resuscitation team. Contribute to the planning, organisation and implementation of training programmes in all aspects of resuscitation to staff and students within the Trust.
- To be a clinical member of the resuscitation team, providing expertise to the team, and where necessary lead the team to ensure best evidence based practice and outcome to the patient
- To act as a role model and expert clinical practitioner in promoting Resuscitation skills and standards supported by current scientific guidance from the Resuscitation Council (UK)
- Provide professional advice to all areas of the organisation concerning resuscitation issues, including policy development, training, clinical governance, and equipment issues
- To participate in quality improvement audits both locally and nationally (National Cardiac Arrest Audit)

**MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Clinical
- Provide expert advice and clinical support to the resuscitation teams in the field of clinical resuscitation practice and management of deteriorating patients.
- Provide strong and effective leadership in emergency situations
- To act as a role model and expert clinical practitioner in promoting Resuscitation skills and standards supported by current scientific guidance from the Resuscitation Council (UK).
- Demonstrate clinical competence and confidence in using specialist knowledge, equipment and skills in a variety of clinical settings (intraosseous insertion, assisting with advanced airway management, mechanical devices for CPR)
- Provide support and expert professional advice regarding decisions for ‘do not attempt cardiopulmonary resuscitation (DNACPR) and treatment escalation plan according to Trust policy
- Attend when possible and on duty all resuscitation calls supporting, facilitating and debriefing the team and family as appropriate.
