This is an exciting opportunity for Data Protection Advisor (DPA) to promote compliance with the Data Protection Act (DPA18) and UK General Data Protection Regulations (UK GDPR) across Defence Digital (DD).

**Job description**:
The Data Protection Advisor is situated within the DD Security, Resilience Information Team and line managed by the Information Governance Lead. However, the DPA is professionally overseen by the Principal Data Protection Advisor (PDPA) and operates on their behalf.

**Person specification**:

- Promote adherence to Data Protection policy and other central guidance within DD. The post holder will communicate well and be trusted to give good advice both orally and in writing, maintain a record of the advice and guidance provided and ensure links are updated when changes are made, challenge poor behaviours and be able to negotiate with other specialists within the business.
- Have a good understanding of their business and the personal data it holds. This will involve reviewing how and why personal data is processed and checking the data is protected and processed for legitimate reasons, in line with relevant parts of the Act. They will ensure that the conditions for processing special categories of personal data are satisfied. The DPA should refer to MOD policy and the Information Commissioner’s guidelines on audit. They will be good risk managers.
- Work with and support the Principal Data Protection Advisor:

- Line Management of 2 personnel.
- Undertake mandated training, personal development and CPD.

**Qualifications**:

- The BCS Data Protection Practitioner Certificate (or recognised equivalent) is required for this role. If you do not already hold it, you would be expected to undertake certification within 12 months of taking up post. (training will be given)**Behaviours**:
