**Group Media Relations Manager**
**London**

As a Barclays Group Media Relations Manager, you will be part of the broader External Communications function that delivers Barclays’ communication priorities, protecting the reputation of the bank and enhancing its commercial outcomes. You will assist the Head of Group Media Relations, playing an active role in managing media relations with key stakeholders of the bank, including the delivery of media activities throughout Barclays’ financial calendar.

**What will you be doing?**:

- Working as a proactive member of the Group Media Relations team, develop and execute communication plans in support of the firm’s strategy
- Developing and fostering relationships with key journalists, identifying areas of strengths and weaknesses, and tracking impact against the delivery of Barclays’ strategic priorities
- Working closely with HR and other internal stakeholders to manage media engagement for Barclays’ Diversity, Equity and Inclusion agenda and global Citizenship programmes
- Working with the digital and social media teams to create content for our corporate channels
- Assisting the preparation of communications materials and media briefings for senior management on a wide range of issues
- Managing media activities throughout the financial calendar and identifying potential reputational issues that could impact the bank
- Preparing and producing media summaries, measure and evaluate media activity
- Helping the team to ensure all media relations activity complies with the Group External Communications Policy

**What we’re looking for**:

- Experience in media relations gained either in agency or in-house, covering a fast-moving, proactive and reactive news environment
- Excellent knowledge and working experience of a range of traditional and digital media, ability to think strategically and creatively to solve problems
- Experience in writing and developing content for digital channels; ability to work at pace with tight deadlines and an excellent focus on execution
- Exceptional influencer and negotiator, with commercial acumen, who understands Barclays’ strategy and growth priorities alongside the organisational structure

**Skills that will help you in the role**:

- Comprehensive communications experience gained in, or working for/ with, a large and regulated corporate body
- Knowledge and understanding of financial markets and financial reporting
- Crisis management experience
- Ability to act as a media spokesperson on designated issues

**Where will you be working?**
In the heart of Canary Wharf, our headquarters at Churchill Place boasts onsite amenities such as: a gym, staff restaurant and deli bar, and is easily accessible by tube and bus links. With a population of around 5000 staff the atmosphere is second to none with a real buzz being created around the offices within.
