We are seeking a high calibre media relations and content strategist to join our Marketing Communications Team in the United Kingdom.

The Media Relations and Content Strategist for the UK is responsible for building Munich Re’s share of voice in the regional trade and top tier media alongside social media through proactive engagement, quality content and thought leadership on core topics and trends, as well as contributing to a one-voice communication strategy across Munich Re Group.

As an individual contributor, you will take direction from the Head of Marketing & Communication UK to prioritize deliverables to support and achieve business goals. In addition, you will align with the Head of Group Media Relations in Munich, to leverage Group best practices, tools and formats on region-specific work.

Your job

As an experienced practitioner, you will be responsible to share our story of dynamic growth and digital transformation and start conversations about insurance topics that are shaping the future, from climate risk to cyber security to DE&I.
- Plan and execute a strategic communications framework tailored to meet the diverse needs of our external audiences across the region, including media, clients, shareholders, public audiences.
- Ensure the plan combines an appropriate mix of traditional and digital channels and outreach
- Work with business leaders to create compelling executive narratives, messaging/content and thought leadership
- Deliver high quality media work: pitch, prepare and manage media interviews with key executives, handle media enquiries and ensure alignment with Group positioning and topics.
- Prepare to respond to changing regulation and industry issues in collaboration with business leaders
- Develop public relations/social media programs to support Marketing plans and campaigns including the content aspects of high-profile industry events, speaking opportunities, press releases, by-lined articles, media pitches, surveys, social media content, etc.
- Oversee the management of Munich Re’s appointed regional PR agency, to deliver high-level objectives and tangible outcomes - at a regional level and in priority markets.
- Work with writers and creative agencies, and contribute coverage results to the Group’s monthly media analysis.
- Work closely with the wider UK Marketing Communication team to deliver end-to-end consultancy on campaign and strategic topics to ensure integrated MarCom support being performed
- Collaborate with broader Global Communications team in particular the spokesperson team across the globe - whenever appropriate to share insights, leverage best practices and drive efficiencies that will improve quality, consistency and effectiveness.
- Ensure that all communications programs and media activities are tracked and measured to determine their ROI and success.

**Profile**:

- A University degree preferably in Journalism, Communications, Digital Media, Marketing, Business Administration or Economics; an advanced graduate degree would be an advantage
- 10 years' experience (or equivalent) of proven expertise in financial and corporate communications, including in financial services roles in the UK
- Proficiency in English, strong problem-solving skills and the ability to influence.
- Outstanding interpersonal and relationship building skills and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels and across a diverse set of backgrounds
- Stamina, a commitment to high quality work that can be delivered under pressure and strong attention to detail
- Confidence to navigate ambiguity and collaborate across all hierarchical levels in a global matrix organisation and work under evolving deadlines.
