As a result of continuous growth and expansion, an exciting new post position has arisen within our Biodiversity science area for a Project Support Officer. This presents an outstanding chance for a motivated and ambitious individual to enhance their current project support skills by engaging with a diverse array of exciting projects in the field of biodiversity science.
As Project Support Officer within Biodiversity, you will support and collaborate with Researchers from across the world, helping them to develop independent research aligned to existing projects on biodiversity monitoring such as the European Knowledge Exchange network
).
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Project management tasks, including budget reviews and setting up purchase orders
- Collaborating with key stakeholders, such as farmers
- Synthesis of information, basic analysis, and data processing
- Assisting with facilitation during workshops
- Organising workshops, including travel and logistics coordination
- Planning, logistics, and conducting fieldwork within the UK
- Supporting the upkeep of a nationwide network of biodiversity monitoring systems
- Preparing for, and undertaking fieldwork at a range of UK sites to deploy and maintain cutting edge biodiversity monitoring systems,
With opportunities for fieldwork, international networking and data analysis, this role provides a well-rounded opportunity for an early career Scientist. You will undertake data analyses and support two international projects (AI in biodiversity monitoring and biological invasions) by supporting workshop organisation and travel arrangements. This role will suit a well-organised people-person who enjoys working with others at the cutting edge of science innovation.
For the role of Project Support Officer, we’re looking for somebody who has:
- Demonstrable experience of overseeing and coordinating projects effectively, using recognised project methodologies
- Exceptional communication skills; is adept at conveying information effectively, both written and orally
- Excellent written and interpersonal skills, capable of articulating ideas and information clearly and concisely
- Effective collaboration abilities and has an adaptable approach to research as this role involves engagement in a variety of international projects
- Possesses strong organisational skills, with an ability to manage time efficiently, work independently to meet deadlines
- Experienced in synthesising information, handling data, and quantitative ecology, with a willingness to further develop these skills as needed (desirable)
- Willingness to travel to field sites and holds a full British driving licence, with some travel overseas
