px Group
has operated and maintained the Fellside Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant located in Cumbria, since 2004, and also operates the 0.5 km high-hazard pipeline which is the main fuel supply to the site. The site is an upper tier COMAH installation forming part of the Sellafield COMAH enclave.

The Opportunity
We are now recruiting for a SHEQ Manager.

The SHEQ Manager is responsible for ensuring that the px business maintains a best-in-class, responsive safety strategy and culture. This includes making sure all employees understand their SHEQ responsibilities and are actively engaged in making safety the top business priority.

In alignment with both business objectives and legal requirements, the SHEQ Manager will support the development, leadership, and implementation of the px SHEQ philosophy, strategy, and initiatives.

The role also involves leading, managing, and sustaining the site's certifications to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 55001 standards, as well as effectively managing and developing direct reports to achieve these goals.

You'll be supported with personalised on the job training, coaching, mentoring and twice-yearly development and performance reviews to help maintain & develop your contributions and competence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote a Positive Safety Culture - Work collaboratively with all px employees, clients, contractors, and visitors to foster a proactive safety culture. Ensure everyone understands and upholds their personal Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (SHEQ) responsibilities.
  • Lead and Develop the SHEQ Team - Manage, develop, and support assigned personnel within the SHEQ function, ensuring effective supervision, professional growth, and overall team performance.
  • Implement and Maintain SHEQ Systems - Support the implementation, communication, and ongoing maintenance of all SHEQ objectives, targets, policies, and procedures. Monitor their effectiveness and drive continuous improvement as needed.
  • Business Management Systems Compliance - Lead the management and continual improvement of Business Management Systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 55001), ensuring ongoing compliance and championing their effective use across the site.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Minimum Requirements:

  • NEBOSH general certificate (Must be willing to work toward Diploma)
  • Relevant successful contribution & work experience in a 24/7 industrial environment.
  • Previous experience in a health and safety role.
  • Successful development & implementation of SHE philosophy, strategies and performance measures.
  • Knowledge of current UK legislation regarding SHE requirements
