We're Hiring: Senior play worker/ Deputy

Location: Gracemount

Hours: 21 hours per week

Salary: £13.81 per hour

Full year contract

During the term time the hours of work will be between 2pm-6pm Monday-Thursday and 11.30am-6pm on a Friday

Guaranteed contracted hours over the school holidays for full year contract, the hours of work during the school holidays will vary to meet the full day.

Childcare Connections is a Voluntary sector organisation that provides Out of school care and Holiday play provision in four locations in South Edinburgh (Liberton, Gilmerton, Gracemount & Moredun) for children aged 4-12.

Are you passionate about creating fun, inclusive play experiences for children? Do you thrive in a team that values warmth, creativity, and is child-led ? We're looking for a Senior playworker to support the day-to-day running of our busy play setting.

About the Role:

As senior play worker, you'll work closely with the Play Leader to:

  • Plan and deliver engaging activities that support children's development and wellbeing
  • Foster a safe, welcoming environment where every child feels seen and valued
  • Support staff and volunteers, helping to build a strong, collaborative team
  • Communicate effectively with families
  • Step into leadership when needed, ensuring smooth operations and continuity of care

We're Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience working with children in play, early years, or community settings
  • Brings energy, empathy, and a commitment to inclusive practice
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Can lead with confidence and support with kindness
  • Holds a relevant childcare/playwork qualification as recognised by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC)
  • Understands the importance of safeguarding and child protection
