Role Overview
We are looking for a commercially minded Head of Finance to take ownership of our financial strategy, planning, and performance. This is a newly created leadership role reporting directly to the CEO, intended to sit between operational finance and executive decision-making. You will shape the financial direction of the business while enabling scale, efficiency, and value creation. With a solid finance operations team already in place, Finance Manager and Finance Assistant, you will focus on financial strategy, budgeting and forecasting, commercial analysis, business case development, and advising the executive team. A working knowledge of legal and contractual issues would be highly desirable.
Location: Farnham – Office-based
Key Responsibilities
- Financial planning & analysis (budgeting, forecasting, scenario modelling)
- Lead on cash flow forecasting and risk modelling
- Commercial finance (tender support, pricing, business cases, ROI)
- Business partnering with CEO and exec team
- Strategic financial advice on growth and investment
- Monthly accounts oversight (via Finance Manager)
- Product/project costing and R&D spend tracking
- External engagement (audit, tax, advisors)
- Process improvement and automation
- Legal/contractual support (desirable)
Skills & Experience
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Experience in a finance leadership role, ideally within a growing business or SME environment
- Strong commercial and strategic finance background
- Proven ability to influence executive-level decisions through clear financial insight
- Comfortable working hands-on where needed
- Experience with legal/contractual matters desirable
- Able to communicate financial concepts clearly to non-finance stakeholders
- High integrity, attention to detail, and proactive problem-solving ability
- Experience supporting pricing and bid processes
- Exposure to R&D or technology/manufacturing environment
