Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing assistance and care to individuals in need, particularly those in nursing homes and care homes. This position requires a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for our clients, including those with dementia and other care needs.

Duties

  • Assist clients with daily living activities, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
  • Implement and follow care plans tailored to individual needs.
  • Provide support in behaviour management, helping clients develop coping strategies.
  • Engage with clients through meaningful activities that promote social interaction and mental stimulation.
  • Perform heavy lifting when necessary, ensuring the safety of both the client and yourself.
  • Administer first aid as required and maintain a safe environment for all residents.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff to monitor health conditions and report any changes in client behaviour or health status.
  • Maintain accurate records of care provided and participate in regular team meetings to discuss client progress.

Skills

  • Experience in senior care, particularly within nursing homes or care homes is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of dementia care principles and practices.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviours with empathy and patience.
  • Competence in lifting techniques to ensure safe handling of clients.
  • Certification in first aid is preferred but not essential; training may be provided.
  • A caring nature with a genuine desire to help others improve their quality of life.
