A2B Social Care have a superb opportunity for a dedicated and experienced Senior Support Worker to join the team in a small, nurturing 3 bed residential children's home for young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) in Derby DE21.

About the role:

The successful candidate will work alongside the Deputy and Registered Manager to ensure high-quality care, safeguard children, and lead shifts effectively. You will act as a role model for the team, providing guidance, support, and stability to both staff and young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage shifts, ensuring all aspects of the home's daily routines and care delivery run smoothly.
  • Provide direct care and support to children, using trauma-informed approaches to promote emotional, physical, and social development.
  • Assist with care planning, key working sessions, and the completion of accurate daily records and reports.
  • Support the Deputy and Registered Manager in ensuring compliance with Ofsted standards and Children's Homes Regulations 2015.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support junior staff members, promoting best practice and professional development.
  • Contribute to safeguarding procedures, ensuring the safety and welfare of all children at all times.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with young people, families, social workers, and other professionals.
  • Take part in the on-call rota and cover shifts where required.

Requirements

  • Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People's Workforce (Residential Childcare) – or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a residential childcare setting, preferably supporting young people with EBD.
  • Experience in a senior or shift-leading role (desirable).
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, behaviour management, and relevant childcare legislation.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Salary:

£27,352 - £28,496 (£ £13.70ph) plus sleeps paid at £55 per sleep, working 1 on 2 off rota, plus career progression opportunities and extensive benefits package.
