We are seeking a skilled Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) to join our Safe2Speak team for a specialist role embedded within the St Helens Children's Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH). You'll play a key part in screening children's safeguarding referrals, offering expert insight, and championing best practise across the partnership. This role provides an opportunity to influence multi-agency decision making and ensure domestic abuse is recognised and addressed, driving better outcomes for children and strengthen support from a whole family approach.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Provide specialist domestic abuse expertise within St Helens MASH, ensuring safeguarding enquiries and decisions reflect risk and best practice.
  • Screen and assess referrals, identifying all levels of domestic abuse risk and coordinating appropriate support and safety planning.
  • Liaise with Safe2Speak colleagues to share relevant safeguarding information.
  • Promote and embed the Merseyside Risk Assessment Tool (MeRIT) and ensure accurate case recording and information sharing.
  • Offer initial advice, safety planning, and referrals for victims/survivors, considering accommodation and wider support needs.
  • Support MASH practitioner confidence to identify, discuss, and respond to domestic abuse and coercive control safely.
  • Ensure domestic abuse and child/family safety plans are aligned, survivor-focused, and coordinated across agencies.
  • Provide practical advice on legal, housing, health, and financial matters, highlighting gaps in safeguarding practice where identified.

What We're Looking For:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience supporting individuals and families affected by domestic abuse.
  • Strong knowledge of domestic abuse legislation, safeguarding practices, and best practice approaches.
  • Proven ability to complete risk assessments and develop targeted support and safety plans with measurable outcomes.
  • Experience managing a caseload and working effectively within a multi-agency safeguarding environment.
  • Skilled in crisis management, risk minimisation, and confident decision-making in challenging situations.
  • Demonstrated resilience and self-awareness when dealing with complex and sensitive cases.

Interview Process:

  • Candidates will undergo in-person interviews, consisting of a case study and competency-based questions. Interviews will take place w/c 3rd November 2025.
