Data Protection Advisor

We are delighted to have an opening for a Data Protection Advisor to work on a part-time basis in our highly regarded Company Secretarial department, consisting of Company Secretariat, Data Protection, and Executive Secretarial Administration. In this role, you will support the Data Protection Officer with data protection activities to ensure regulatory and legislative compliance; playing a key role in facilitating transparency, accountability, and integrity across Portsmouth Water.

What will you be doing?

Key Responsibilities

Provide support to the Data Protection Officer with investigations, assessments and reporting of data breaches, identifying root causes and supporting the implementation of corrective actions, and supporting with Subject Access Requests and Environment Information Regulations 2004 requests.

Complete daily audits to ensure data protection compliance within the CRM system

Manage and administer the Data Protection inbox

Support with the maintenance of the data protection risk register; including advising and reviewing DPIAs

Review the company's supplier procurement tool for data protection related compliance

Support the production of data protection related standards and guidance documents, utilising the latest ICO development and best practice guidance

Contribute to data protection policies and procedures; managing version control

Support the production and delivery of data protection training across the business

Attend meetings relating to new projects where data protection is a consideration

Assist in the preparation of reports for management on Data Protection matters

What do you need?

Skills, Qualifications & Competencies

Experience in a compliance-related role (ideally with a data protection focus)

Relevant experience in handling, planning, collating and organising data

Expertise in multi-tasking and managing numerous internal and external deadlines

In-depth communication skills for collaborating with a range of stakeholders

First class written and verbal communication skills, able to engage senior stakeholders

Excellent accuracy and attention to detail

Able to work under pressure, but also remain focussed whilst undertaking arduous tasks

Able to take own initiative, make decisions, be proactive, and work without close supervision

High level of integrity, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive matters
