Full time Childcare worker (35 hours over 5 days )

Part time Childcare Worker (20 hours over 5 days)

Canolfan Gofal Plant Tiddlywinks Childcare Centre Cyfyngedig are looking to recruit additional childcare workers to cover increased demand.

The role is based around encouraging and supporting the highest levels of childcare for children aged 6 weeks to 14 years of age, ensuring each child is treated as an individual and that their development needs are met on an ongoing basis.

Job Specification:

  • To assist in the day to day organisation of Tiddlywinks Childcare Centre
  • To support the Room Managers in the day to day administration and record keeping requirements
  • To administer First Aid as necessary
  • To ensure accurate and up to date accident and incident record sheets are completed and signed on time
  • To work within Tiddlywinks' guidelines concerning policy and procedures including health and safety, working practices and standards of care and development
  • To liaise with Management Committee as necessary
  • To implement activities and opportunities as directed and requested by managers, and to undertake all relevant tasks to ensure a well maintained and effective delivery of care and well being within Tiddlywinks
  • Assist in ensuring appropriate recording and observations are undertaken within each childcare section
  • To encourage and assist a team ethos
  • To attend regular staff meetings and undertake training as identified both to aid personal development and ensure ongoing skills and knowledge for the delivery of a quality childcare setting
  • To provide safe, stimulating and creative play and learning opportunities which reflect the ages and stages of development of the children in Tiddlywinks. To care for each child's individual needs
  • To undertake and contribute to the planning of children's activities and opportunities within

Tiddlywinks

  • To encourage the awareness of differences and diversities worldwide by fostering a positive and sensitive approach in all activities and opportunities within Tiddlywinks
  • To communicate daily with parents to keep them informed about their child's progress, discussing any problems and providing written assessments on a regular basis. To ensure the Management team are fully informed of any discussions and or problems that have arisen
  • To collect/ deliver children to and from schools and escort safely to Tiddlywinks
  • To assist in the maintenance of a clean and safe environment at all times
  • To assist in and undertake the preparation of snacks

Person Specification

Essential:

  • A relevant level 3 or higher qualification (Or working towards) appropriate to the post in line with the Childcare Act 1989 and as amended by the Care Standards Act 2002 (NNEB,

CACHE level 3, NVQ level2/3 or equivalent) and as identified by the Welsh Assembly's List of

Accepted Qualifications in Early Years and Childcare. Willingness to take part in further training

  • Previous experience of working with children from the age of 6 weeks to 14 years of age
  • An understanding of good quality childcare
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work as a reliable member of a team, developing positive relationships with colleagues, parents and children
  • Ability to use own judgement, initiative and common sense
  • Possession of a relevant First Aid certificate or willingness to undertake relevant course
  • Flexibility
  • Full UK Driving licence

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation
  • Ability to communicate in Welsh language
  • Prepared to undertake professional development, as appropriate
