Deputy Manager – Children's Residential Home (EBD)

Location: Leyland PR26

Salary: £35,000

Hours: Full-time, Permanent

Shift Pattern: Combination of office hours + occasional shifts/sleeps as required

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and dedicated Deputy Manager to support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of a children's residential home supporting young people with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). You will help lead the staff team, ensure high standards of care, and promote positive outcomes for children.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, good knowledge of safeguarding, and experience working in regulated residential care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Registered Manager with daily operations and leadership of the home.
  • Supervise and mentor support staff, including supervisions and performance reviews.
  • Assist with rotas, shift planning, medication oversight, and incident reporting.
  • Lead on safeguarding, behaviour management, and risk assessments.
  • Contribute to care planning, placement reviews, and key working sessions.
  • Maintain accurate records, logs, reports, and statutory documentation.
  • Help prepare for Ofsted inspections and regulatory visits.
  • Promote a positive, safe, homely environment that meets Quality Standards.
  • Act as the senior lead on shift when required.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are followed at all times.
  • Support in managing occupancy, referrals, and transition plans.

Requirements

Previous experience in a children's residential care setting

Strong knowledge of safeguarding and Children's Homes Regulations

Ability to lead and mentor a staff team confidently

Excellent communication & organisational skills

Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional sleeps

Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
  • Working towards Level 5 Leadership & Management
  • Experience working with young people with trauma, attachment, or behavioural needs
  • Experience supporting Ofsted inspections
