Financial Controller (ASAP)

PE Backed CleanTech

London (Hybrid model)

£70-80k plus 15% bonus

Talentedge are proud to be working on a retained assignment with one of the UK's most exciting and reputable PE backed cleantech businesses helping them secure an excellent Financial Controller from the market.

Over the past few years this business has seen exponential growth seeing revenues triple through acquisitions as well as organic growth. This role will report into super smart head of finance with dotted lines into the CFO.

For this role we are looking for someone with great consolidation experience, technically strong and a passion for driving & improving processes.

Key responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting & Analysis:
  • Owning the monthly management accounts, P&L analysis, and cash flow reporting.
  • Providing detailed commentary on variances and performance.
  • Conducting financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost reduction or revenue enhancement.
  • Consolidating monthly financial results and forecasts.
  • Compliance and Control:
  • Ensuring timely completion of audits and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Maintaining robust financial controls and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
  • Developing and implementing financial policies and procedures.
  • Running the audit process and acting as a point of contact for external auditors.
  • Ensuring compliance with financial reporting standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP).
  • Team Leadership and Management:
  • Developing the Finance Manager and Finance Assistants, ensuring high standards and continuous improvement.
  • Strategic Contribution:
  • Supporting senior leadership with financial analysis, KPIs, and business performance reviews.
  • Identifying opportunities to streamline finance processes and implement system enhancements.

Skills and qualifications

  • Essential:
  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified with relevant post-qualification experience (typically 5+ years).
  • Prior experience in a PE backed business is highly desirable.
  • Strong technical accounting skills and a commercial mindset.
  • Hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working across multi-site environments.
  • Proficiency in finance systems (e.g, Power BI) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (verbal, listening, writing).
  • Excellent analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership qualities and team management abilities.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
