The Post

This is a pivotal and exciting time to join Brent Council. Your work will support wider efforts to build trust with local communities, protect and promote the reputation of the council, and to influence national and regional decision-makers.

The role will involve:

  • Seizing opportunities to tell the council's stories across numerous channels.
  • Providing strategic and creative communications advice to senior leaders and elected members.
  • Ensuring our content is engaging, creative, and tailored to the right audience—delivering messages that resonate, inspire action, and reflect Brent's tone of voice.
  • Editing Your Brent magazine.
  • Deliver excellent media coverage for the council's initiatives, and oversee the 24/7 press office operation to ensure high quality communications support for media enquiries and crises.
  • Managing a small team of officers, coordinating work and collaborating across departments.
  • Championing communications best practice, ensuring that the council informs, educates and influences audiences in ways that are effective and represent best value for month.

The Person 

We're looking for a dynamic and results-driven communications professional to lead the development and delivery of impactful campaigns that drive measurable change. 

The successful candidate will be:

  • Passionate about understanding Brent's residents and stakeholders and creating communications that resonate.
  • A creative thinker with strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Skilled at project management with the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
  • A confident communicator, adept at building relationships and influencing.
  • Proven in the field of communications and media relations, with results to show.
  • Committed to fostering a culture of curiosity, continuous improvement and collaboration.
