Job Description

Purpose of the role

To support the Risk Function in delivering it's objective of safeguarding the bank's financial and operational stability by proactively identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring risks across various business units and activities.

Accountabilities

  • Development of strategic direction for risk, including the implementation of up-to-date methodologies and processes.
  • Management of the risk department, including oversight of risk colleagues and their performance, implementation of risk priorities and objectives, oversight of department efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Relationship management of risk stakeholders, including identifying relevant stakeholders, and maintenance of the quality of external third-party services.
  • Adherence to the Risk policy, standards and frameworks, and maintaining a robust control environment.

  • To advise and influence decision making, contribute to policy development and take responsibility for operational effectiveness. Collaborate closely with other functions/ business divisions.

  • OR for an individual contributor, they will lead collaborative assignments and guide team members through structured assignments, identify the need for the inclusion of other areas of specialisation to complete assignments. They will identify new directions for assignments and/ or projects, identifying a combination of cross functional methodologies or practices to meet required outcomes.
  • Consult on complex issues; providing advice to People Leaders to support the resolution of escalated issues.
  • Identify ways to mitigate risk and developing new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work done.
  • Perform work that is closely related to that of other areas, which requires understanding of how areas coordinate and contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the organisation sub-function.
  • Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategy.
  • Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources of information, internal and external sources such as procedures and practises (in other areas, teams, companies, solve problems creatively and effectively.
  • Communicate complex information. 'Complex' information could include sensitive information or information that is difficult to communicate because of its content or its audience.
  • Influence or convince stakeholders to achieve outcomes.

Join us as a Financial Crime Risk Manager at Barclays where you will help shape the future of banking by acting as the key intermediary between BUK and the wider IFCP. The responsibilities include engaging with programme working groups, ensuring alignment with original requirements, and communicating updates, risks, and new information back into the business. The role requires change and delivery expertise, working closely with business SMEs to provide support and insight, while challenging and contributing at all levels. A key part of the role is to check and challenge programme outputs, drive effective communication, and ensure financial crime capabilities are delivered effectively across the group.

To be successful as a Financial Crime Risk Manager, you should:

  • In-depth knowledge of financial crime frameworks and controls
  • Experience working within group-wide programmes and navigating complex organisational structures
  • Proven change and transformation delivery experience
  • Considerable stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage at varying levels of seniority
  • Solid understanding of risk management frameworks, including issue identification and resolution

You may be assessed on the key critical skills relevant for success in role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen strategic thinking and digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills.

This role can be based in London, Northampton, Glasgow, or Manchester.
