Thorne (BMW Vehicle Distribution Centre)

£25,048 per annum - Mon - Fri

Purpose of Job

To provide an efficient and effective logistics support function to the Vehicle Distribution Centre and Retailer Network. Carry out tasks in a timely manner to meet the requirements and objectives of the business. Monitor and control the effectiveness of the Logistics Providers within contractual constraints.

Always provide a high level of customer service using a professional and consistent approach, being mindful of the varying expectations of the customer and retailers. Identify problems and act accordingly, resolving issues promptly and effectively.

Responsibilities Core Duties

  • Monitor and co-ordinate various logistics providers within contract constraints to deliver vehicles in a timely manner and within agreed lead times.
  • Engage with BMW Motorrad and the Motorrad Logistics supplier to ensure motorcycles are delivered in a timely manner.
  • Create system-based vehicle movements on various contracts following external and internal requests.
  • Communicate with all logistics suppliers to ensure timely delivery of vehicles against their target delivery dates.
  • Monitor, record, and report on performance of all contracted logistics suppliers.
  • Involvement with the logistics operation for enclosed, driven, fleet, rental, and open contracted movements.
  • Manage and resolve telephonic, email, and internal communication system queries of a vehicle logistics nature from the Retailer Network, suppliers, and internal personnel, providing clear, concise, and accurate information.
  • Always follow departmental procedures and continually look at ways to improve performance to ensure efficient and accurate completion of all processes.
  • Provide an efficient, courteous, and responsive service to all customers and internal departments when responding to enquiries.
  • Ensure accuracy and quality of work and communication to both internal and external customers is consistently high.
  • Adhere to all health and safety measures, ensuring protective clothing and equipment are used correctly. Follow safe systems of work and maintain a clean working environment, taking responsibility for your work area.
  • Attend departmental meetings, both internal and external, to support, provide updates, and share information.

Requirements

The chosen candidate should have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), along with excellent and confident communication skills. Knowledge of the automotive and vehicle logistics industry and logistics functions would be advantageous. You will be required to present an image befitting the brand in all circumstances.
