Overview of Responsibilities

As a Graduate Applied Radiation Technologist, you will contribute to delivering services and be embedded in one or more key R&D projects led by the ART group, modelling and measuring nuclear environments and conducting experiments for validation and verification. You will also support the design, commissioning, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning of fusion machines, helping to advance the development of fusion power plants.

Your core responsibilities:

  • Perform data analysis and nuclear analysis tasks which contribute to the development, validation and verification of novel experimental techniques requiring new concepts or significant adaptions to existing methods to support the realisation of fusion power plants.
  • Work alongside experienced staff to gain experience & familiarisation with staff, methods, practices, & programs of the Group and wider Division.
  • Develop scientific coding skills to contribute to the development of nuclear analysis methods and tools that increase the capability and efficiency of the ART group to enable the realisation of fusion power plants.
  • Contribute towards preparation of reports and documentation, and present research findings through meetings and forums.
  • Develop knowledge and understanding of fusion relevant topics and apply this learning to assigned projects.

Qualifications
  • Degree in Science or Engineering from 2025 or '26
  • Confident with all Microsoft applications including Excel, Word and Powerpoint
  • Driven, with a strong appetite to learn and take on new challenges
  • Able to collaborate effectively and communicate clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Well organised and adaptable with the ability to plan and prioritise workload
